New Computer-resolution error

Postby Fun498 » Thu Jul 16, 2009 11:35 pm

Well, after a couple of days of transfering verything over to my new computer and getting to know Vista, I have been going program to program making them work. FOFix 3.120 beta 2 seems to be the only program I can't get to run. My last computer that I transfered FOFix over from had a higher screen resolution. I get an error on start-up of the program that the screen resolution isn't supported and to view the fretsonfire.exe. Obviously the game can't run in a higher resolution then the screen supports, but I re-installed the game and the problem persists. I even tried changing the resolution in the .ini toi a supported resolution and tried deleting the .ini. None of it works. Any ideas? I don't noiw why it is still trying to run in a specific resolution after re-install. It always opened in 800x600 after a re-installation on my last computer. I'm running Windows Vista 64 bit on the new computer.

I'm not sure what the problem is but it maybe that it is a 64-bit vista or maybe the settings are put like its the old FoF from your other computer so, the settings are set for the other computer delete everything and download 3.100 FoFiX

I'm using beta 2 for Fofix 1.200. I'm downloading the installer version now to see if that helps. If it still gives the error, I'll post the log file. It bassically said that 1280x1040 wasn't supported.

Ok: Here is the full log:

You're using Vista. So the FoFiX.ini is at %appdata%/fofix . And look for this:

Code: Select all

resolution = 1440x900[CHANGE THIS TO YOUR HIGHEST RESOLUTION]

Actually, more like C:/Users/InsertYourUserNameHere/Appdata/Roaming/FoFiX. At least, that's where it was for me. I would say move the fofix.ini file into your FoFiX folder (The one where you run the game from). It'll still find it that way.

1366x768? That's an odd screen resolution. If it still doesn't work, try setting "fullscreen = false" in your fofix.ini file and then change the settings from within the game if it works.

Since "DragonFail" "sucks" so much, I won't post anything related or about them any longer.
