I'm not sure what you set to cause it to do that, but I have fixed it in the code for release. Until then you'll have to play around until you find it yourself =P

Thanks a lot man!

I honestly wouldn't have a clue what the issue is at this stage, but if the python 2.6 / opengl 3 package works fine, that might narrow it down a little.

Doesnt work :( same problem.

Well at least that cuts out potential python 2.4/2.6; pyOpenGL 2/3 compatibility problems.
Progress!

...I'd still like to see others confirm this, just to make sure it's the same for everyone with this problem.

enterman wrote:I'm having several issues with FoFiX in ubuntu 8.10 I have the game running completely maxed out in windows and it runs great but in linux it runs horrifically no matter how low I turn the graphics down. It's basically skipping a lot, making every song unplayable. It also plays no sound for the instruments. Vocals play fine but I hear no audio from drums, bass, and guitar. Anyone know how to fix this? I've messed with the audio settings and volume to no avail.

I'm not an expert on Ubuntu or any issue. But what do you have your sound device set to? Pulse, Alsa, Intel, etc??? If anything, change it off of Pulse to Alsa. Pulse is junk and this fixed a lot of sound issues I had. This may be the reason why you aren't hearing sound for the drums, bass and guitar. It may also fix your skipping issue.

As for the graphics...as others have pointed out. Update to the latest linux graphics driver for your card. I missed in the other threads why you have. But I still think the issue is with pulse.

adio2k wrote:Hey i have a problem. I;ve just instaled the game and when i open doesnt appear anything -black backgorund. I cant see the primary menu. After i press enter appear solo tour or quickplay but still the background is black. The FoFix is Full package for MS Windows with python 2.4 and pyopengl 2.0.2.x. Which can be the problem? help :D

Have you tried closing and restarting? I know when I play and make changes in the settings menu it will sometimes say it has to restart the game. It will then restart and I get a black screen and a lot of lag. If I let it sit long enough, the menu will finally come up but there is still lag. Closing and restarting fixes this.

I have never had the black screen though from a fresh start run the first time of the day.

akedrou wrote:The issue being... Did you read the rules of the forum? Where it says if you are having a problem you should know your log file? In your logfile it will likely say that shaders are not supported by your system, and have been disabled. That is largely the reason people get frustrated - the information you need is in a giant post that says RULES. If that is not the case, then we can start working on a solution.

i didn't know to look, i hardly ever look at the first page of threads that are huge so... plus i would figure windows 7 would be able to handle shaders cause it is the latest version of windows to date, im sure it's just a glitch, but go ahead and shoot this reply down, call me stupid for all i care. i get it too much from this forum site alone as it is

*looks at log file: (W) OpenGL extension ARB_shader_objects not supported - shaders disabled :cursing: :cursing:

1) The rules are in a completely separate topic.

2) The operating system you use has no effect on OpenGL support beyond the graphics drivers. The support of shaders is the job of your graphics card.

 lol, now i gotta waste money to buy a graphics card just so i can play a bug filled rb/gh clone, how awesome is that

edit: i know this is a beta, but still, if a final release is about to come out after beta 2 still has alot of crap then 3.120 final should be perfect other wise, waiting for another version to be made is a waste of time. :glare:

It's free. There is no obligation for the developers to make it work perfectly, or indeed work at all. In fact, a lot of proprietary software has bugs. That's why patches are released. With FoFiX, you're basically watching the process of a game being produced and you have the chance to sample it along the way.

And buying a new graphics card is not necessarily a waste of money because you will enjoy all your other 3D games at a higher quality, if you find a good card.

true that  i didn't think about that at the time. i would do patches for FoFiX but some one told me one time in another thread that im not smart enough for patch *stupid ass* SVN doesn't sound that hard to set up, on the gh:wt theme thread it makes it sound really easy.

I have submitted issue(s) 905 and 906 for review.

905: Starpower/Overdrive volume barely audible
http://code.google.com/p/fofix/issues/detail?id=905&can=6&q=starpower

906: Stage shader turns white/ blanks upper middle after playing about 10 songs over 40 minutes.
http://code.google.com/p/fofix/issues/detail?id=906
Image

As always, confirm and star to get them fixed.

EDIT: I have changed the screenshot to an actual screenshot instead of one from my phone cam. Shows the temp at the bottom and system monitor overlay on the right (which is cut off). Temp was at 50*c, this time after loading a song after 3 second countdown...stage shader blanked to white.

- So the stage shader has blanked to white while playing the game after a solo, and after the song is loaded.

I just deleted a post consisting of only a self-quote from earlier.

Do not self-quote just to reiterate your question. I said earlier that I would start deleting such posts on sight, and that is what happened here. Quoting yourself in that way is considered equivalent to bumping a thread and is deeply frowned upon by forum staff.* Make a new thread and let it be dealt with the way it naturally would.

* Especially when the quoted post is only an hour and a half old! (As was the case here.) Come on, people!

I noticed something with the latest revision (r1769), even if you have turned the Jurgen AI off, the game is still reading the pitch of the background guitar.ogg track
due this it is impossible to activate overdrive yourself. I think it will be more useful if the game doesn't read the background guitar track at all even if Jurgen vocals is enabled. Keep up the good work with the vocals. It is coming along real nice now :2thumbsup: .

----------EDIT------------
Sorry I looked over FoFiX issue 873. Sorry john.stumpo.
