Wow the new RB2 tail shader effect is SAAAWEEEEEEETAAA! :drool:
Great job fenolftalein and Ryoma :2thumbsup:

---- EDIT ----

I think these posts by fenoftalein should be added to the shader wiki page:

evil-doer wrote:ok i gave these new rb tails a try and maybe im not understanding it but isnt the sine wave supposed to go from a straight line slowly to full width more and more as you press the whammy down further? i thought that was the point of doing this with a shader? because on my system is going from a straight line to full width instantly with the slightest press.

im using an 360 xplorer which of course uses the inv setting.

edit, nevermind, i reread a backlog of whats been said. i hope the variable width can be added. it would make it perfect.

Settings ->Audio -> Effects Mode == Pitchbend

WRONG

fenolftalein wrote:Because tail shader use this option.
For killswitch - tail become straight
For whammy - tail become more wavy

Pitchbend has nothing to do with tail shaders and the wammy/killswitch. It is how the sound changes pitch.

Azzco wrote:I really think that the tail shaders shouldn't depend on the pitchbend being used or not, I prefer using killswitch, but I still like the whammy tail effect. Could you make it another option instead in the shader menu?

Right

Guys, I found out that the killswitch/pitchbend has no effect on the tail shaders that are being made. I have the Xplorer guitars as well with the xbox-inv set for analog effcts.

The settings you want for the RB2 Tails shaders to look like the real thing (or as close as possible at the moment):
Shaders: On
Tails: RB2

*This is the most important*
Display Settings>>
Advanced Video Settings>> "Effects Display Mode: Static"

Before I had that setting to Animated and they looked like a transparent wave. Static will get you the RB2 dual line waves.

At the moment, pitchbend is broken (at least for me in Linux) and jstumpo is working on it. It just crashes the game with it enabled with all the requirements installed.

++
Ryoma, I think the tails need to be more wavy and faster. And why the tail becomes shorter when we hit the notes?

Ryoma, is it possible to change this effect with how fast you wammy? And/or how far down you wammy? I remember it being like this in the real game. I would think this method would be better than having to edit files. Good job by the way on the tail shaders...you have finally made the tails for linux look good!!!! :2thumbsup:
linuxmint 7 (Jaunty 9.04), KDE 4.2.3, 32-bit with python2.6 installed running FoFiX-SVN. P4-2.4Ghz, 1gig ram, BFG Nvidia 8400 GS (512mb) - beta driver 185.18.14, 2x X-ploder guitars.

This is possible, yes, it's just not implemented right now, but I'm sure sooner or later a dev will code some cool things with it.

Yes and I'm working on hitflames right now... just need fenol or someone with shader related python knowledge again for the python implementation. :sleep:

You can do literally everything with shaders, it's just that some stuff is difficult to code.

I don't get this. My FoFiX lags heavily even when I have my quickset at "Pure Speed". I don't have shaders enabled. I even opened my non-laggy version of FoFiX (3.100 final) and my latest FoFiX (3.120) at the same time, and went through the options, changed everything that was in my non-laggy version, and put the exact settings into my laggy version. It still lags. :thumbdown: What also confuses me, is that FoFiX 3.100 is 1.56 GB, while FoFiX 3.120 is 1.33 GB. :confused: :huh:

Is there anything I can do about it?

you could install pyopengl2 if you were running python 2.4 but then you wouldn't have the shaders
