Weird EOF problem, I need some help

I decided I wanted to chart a song again, and I loaded it up (on a computer I hadn't used it on yet). For some reason though, the keyboard refuses to type anything in while filling out song information, and even stranger, nothing works on the keyboard once I'm in the editor either. Can someone provide a fix? Thank you in advance.

Basic details are needed. What version of EOF are you using? What OS are you using?

Good point, I forgot to point that stuff out. the version of EOF is eof1.8RC10(r1337), my OS is Windows 7 Ultimate.

Does the bottom line of the information panel (CTRL, ALT, SHIFT, CODE, ASCII) change to reflect any of the keys you press (after a project is loaded)? If no keyboard input works at all, there must be something abnormal with your computer/keyboard setup. Some people find that certain high end keyboards/mice don't work properly in EOF, if you have access to a spare one (as normal a keyboard as possible), it may be worth a try.

It'll be weird hooking up a normal keyboard to my laptop, but it's worth a shot. I believe I have an ancient gateway keyboard laying around somewhere, that should work fine, thanks for your help ^_^
And no, nothing happened when I pressed any of the keys your suggested.

@raynebc I took your advice on using an older keyboard. Unfortunately, this didn't work at all :( do you have any other suggestions?

perhaps you used to use feedback(db) "Input method"?

I can't think of much else to try, since I know EOF works fine in Windows 7 and 8 in general. Some computer setups have various unknown causes for application compatibility, but it may be worth setting some compatibility mode settings for EOF (ie. XP SP3 compatibility mode). You could also try using msconfig and selecting the "diagnostic startup" option which will boot Windows with a minimal amount of things starting up. It could help rule out a lot of things.

Feedback is an older chart editor that was designed for making Guitar Hero customs. EOF has an input method that uses some of the same controls, but it probably wouldn't make a difference here because EOF isn't reporting seeing any keypresses.

Ah, I see. I'd give it a shot, but I need some of the newer features in EOF like HOPO chords and solo markers.
