Yes it's possible.
You need some tools to do it, personnaly I use poedit. the translation files are the .mo files you'll find in the translations folder (in the data folder). I suggest you convert an already existing .mo to .po and then edit it in poedit. After that, save them back to .mo

I'd be curious to know to what language you want to translate the game!

yes there is, but this language setting uses .mo translation files. If you want to create, say, a japanese translation (or any language that doesn't exist yet), you have to create a new .mo file

okay, if you downloaded poedit, it comes with some scripts to do this job (they are in the bin folder...something like this: C:\Program Files\poEdit\bin )
the one you want to use is ' msgunfmt ' (poedit will save to .mo automatically when you save the catalog)

And now I guess you'll want to know how to use msgunfmt...So!
in a cmd prompt, it should look a bit like this

you could just copy the .mo file to the bin folder...it makes a much smaller path

it's useful to learn but if you want to skip the converting operation, you can download this french.po file

Hi!

I've made a Dutch translation (txx for the help, this topic helped alot).

I have a question:

I noticed that after I translated all possible lines, there are still some lines in game in English....

Is there a way to translate those lines?

(for example: "End Song")

Thanks in advance...

Some of the text in game is not translated (though most should be)

But "End Song" is going through the translation engine.

in guitarscene.py

Code: Select all

    self.menu = Menu(self.engine, [
      (_("Resume Song"),       self.resumeSong),
      (_("Restart Song"),      self.restartSong),
      (_("Change Song"),       self.changeSong),
      (_("End Song"),          self.endSong),
      (_("Settings"),          settingsMenu),
      (_("Quit to Main Menu"), self.quit),
    ], fadeScreen = True, onClose = self.resumeGame)

the _() function is the translation function. So it should be translatable.

But see for yourself...When you change language (doesn't matter which language) in the settings menu, these lines are still in English...

Or is it me...
