PS2 wireless controller with receiver from PS3?

Postby McFlow » Sat Jun 12, 2010 5:37 am

Hello,
I bought a Guitar Hero Controller for PS2 on ebay. Unfortunately it is wireless and includes no receiver. I want to use it on my PC with FretsOnFire.
Is it possible to use a Wireless Receiver from PS3, for example this one?

To my knowledge the answer is: Nope. The PS3 works on blue tooth. the PS2 uses RF. I could be very wrong since I don't have a PS3 myself, but to my knowledge the PS3 has built-in blue tooth and the wireless guitars connect to it just like the controllers. I think the Guitar Hero receiver you found on eBay is for the drums/mic.
I'm the administrator of http://www.fofchart.com so if you plan on hacking it, please let me know in advance so I can make a backup.

I also run http://www.techiefive.com but so far, it's just a stupid graphic on an ugly bgcolor. Feel free to hack this one.

I was aware of the fact that I would need a ps2 --> ps3 adapter at least. But I thought the delivery would include a receiver as well.
Right now there are no receivers for the kramer striker ps2 controller on ebay in Germany. If I choose them from a foreign country they are too expensive because of shipment costs :/
So this controller is worthless for me right now :D
