Try installing RF-Mod. If fixes lots of bugs in the game. Make sure you choose the correct version for your version of FoF (RF-Mod 3.5 for FoF v.1.1.324, RF-Mod 4 for FoF v.1.2.451)
It might be a Vista problem, try these steps:
*Right click your FretsOnFire.exe
*Click Properties
*Click Compatability
*Check the box that says "Run this program in compatability mode for:"
*Choose Windows 2000
It might be a Dual Core problem. If you are running on a Dual Core processor and do not use RF-Mod (it automatically fixes this), go to the task manager (ctrl alt + delete, you might have to click the task manager box) and go to processes. Find the fretsonfire.exe and right click, choose "Set Affinity" and untick one of the processors listed.
It might be that you have Color Quality set to 16 Bit on your computer. Follow these steps to fix it:
*Right click on your desktop
*Choose Properties
*Choose Settings
*Set "Color Quality" to "Highest (32 Bit)
Hopefully one of these will fix your problem.

Goodbye everyone. It's been fun. I spent many many hours here on these boards and playing/contributing to FoF. Today I uninstalled my game and deleted all my files. I just don't have the time or interest anymore. I won't be coming back here anymore. I might show up in the IRC from time to time to chat. I regret nothing.
So long, farewell.

The only other possible scenerio I can think of is that one of the files in raph's GH mod didn't get copied, which is what happened to me.
