It sounds like maybe your USB port isnt putting out enough power for the controller, my Xbox circle light thing stays on all the time as long as the guitar is plugged in.
Not sure what the compatibility of the x-plorer is, but I'm guessing you would need USB 2.0 ports as well (not the old ones). Although its all just speculation.

you dont need that green button to turn it on and microsoft made the 360 controllers to be usb to use for computer online game now if you have mac the guitar wont work
