It is!

Why would you say that!

I know, you think because of Frets On Fire's complicated procedure makes the whole apple corperation look bad... but, it is a completly user created app that is in it's first stages!

I am a HUGE mac supporter, and just because more people use WINDOWS doesn't, by any means, make it look at all better! WINDOWS= MORE USED <MAC= BETTER, COOLER, MORE FUN

but still, lol it is rather ironic

OH, but on an important note...
If you want to put songs in manually follow:

1) Go to "Show In Finder" option so you see the Frets on Fire.app
2) Right-click and go down to "Show Package Contents"
3) Open the "Contents" folder
4) Open the "Resources" folder
5) Open the "data" folder
6) Scroll all the way down...
7) (you'll notice a handy "mods" folder for mods, and other folders here) Open the "songs" folder
8) All songs here, just put the components of the song into a folder, and drag n' drop into said folder("songs")!

I hope no one else pointed this out...whatever :;):

The link to the dmg in that thread with Syberdave's version of FoF with the RF Mod included is dead. Does anyone have a new link to the dmg file?

Ignignokt wrote:1. Does the latest version of FoF work for Mac OS X? Sadly, no. Both 1.2.438 and 1.2.451 have bugs that prevent them from completely starting up. The most current version that works on Mac OS X is 1.1.324, and can be found here.

I can't get it to work. It crashes right when I open it. Can you help me?

What does it do! " it crashes" really doesnt tell us a lot. does it give an error or anything when it crashes.

You need to be specific if you expect to get help!

Sorry. When I start it up, the screen turns black for around 30 seconds, then quits. It gives no errors, and while it is black, no noise is made. I am using a PowerBookG4 and running Mac OS X 4.9.

I have been working on a mac GH mod but it is not fully finished. here are some screens:

As you can see there is still some work to do, but I fixed the bug where some some numbers showed up as squares. I still need to get some better notes and keys, and I need to figure out how to get the flame 1 background working, but besides that it's going pretty well. (this mod is for 1.2.451)

Alright -- Just a little help. A lot of people have been complaining that the "delete" key doesn't work. The delete key that takes away notes in the song editor is the actual delete key, next to end, above the left arrow key, not the backspace/delete key that's above backslash, and to the right of = +. Just to clear up that confusion. To add notes, it's your strum key (primary).

The current version on sourceforge crashes with this error:

Code: Select all

$ python FretsOnFire.py
Traceback (most recent call last):
  File "FretsOnFire.py", line 27, in ?
    from GameEngine import GameEngine
ImportError: No module named GameEngine

TY for posting the Terminal technique for clearing all high scores! Unfortunately, I'm not much of a Terminal user so I'm stumbling around there- and that's never good. Tried dragging & dropping my Song folder into Terminal to get the filepath, then adding a space, then immediately pasting in the code to find and reset scores. Nuttin'. Also tried it with the FoF application itself, thought the code would work on sub-directories. Nuttin' again.

Has anyone had success with bulk clearing of all high scores on a Mac? Do the Terminal commands work and I/, just not pointing it to the right place? Care to step a noob through it? Thanks!

start terminal
type cd plus a space
drag and drop your song folder into terminal
press enter
copy and paste this:

find . -name 'song.ini' -print0 |xargs -0 perl -pi -e 's/scores = \w*/scores = /g'
find . -name 'song.ini' -print0 |xargs -0 perl -pi -e 's/scores_lead = \w*/scores_lead = /g'
find . -name 'song.ini' -print0 |xargs -0 perl -pi -e 's/scores_rhythm = \w*/scores_rhythm = /g'
find . -name 'song.ini' -print0 |xargs -0 perl -pi -e 's/scores_bass = \w*/scores_bass = /g'
find . -name 'song.ini' -print0 |xargs -0 perl -pi -e 's/scores_coop = \w*/scores_coop = /g'
find . -name 'song.ini' -print0 |xargs -0 perl -pi -e 's/count = \w*/count = /g'

then press enter
