Screen area changes - It gets VERY annoying

I usually have my Screen Area at 1024 by 768 pixels, but when I quit FoF, it changes to 640 by 480 pixels. I have to change it back every time, as this is very annoying. Any help?

yes I had this problem with my old laptop... who is no longer with us 
Go to video options- select Full Screen to off. Then the game will run in a little safe window. My computer's res. is set to 1200x960 or something like that, so i run the window. make it like 800x600 so its plenty big. It seems to just run better in a window for me.
