Drum BRE?

Postby G3n0c1de » Wed Jul 29, 2009 5:59 am

I'm going insane trying to add a big rock ending for the drum part of this song I am charting. Just so you know, I use FoFiX to play, and EOF to chart. I also have Anvil but don't know how to use it much. I have been able to create a BRE for the guitar, and working drum fills but no BRE for the drums. I have poked around the internet and these forums and I still can't do it.

https://www.fretsonfire.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=36146&f=1

This thread said to create an event "big_rock_ending" in EOF on the beat you want the BRE to start, and the drum fill after that would become a BRE. I tried that but it does nothing. The last drum fill acts like a normal drum fill.

http://code.google.com/p/fofix/issues/detail?id=102

This page talked of adding a MIDI event [section_big_rock_ending] to the midi file. Ironically, he said "This should demonstrate how to mark these things to anyone who is familiar with piano roll and MIDI events." I am definitely NOT familiar with MIDI events. I've tried using Anvil to create the event... but that's just it, I don't know how to create new events... only look at them in the events list. He posted some example songs to show how OD, Drum fills, and BREs are put into those songs... but I can't see how they were added in.

So is there a way using EOF or Anvil to add in the BRE? The thread said there was a way using Feedback and FL studio. I don't have FL, and I just took a look at Feedback, and I must say, either I completely don't know how to use it, or it isn't all that great. I mean I can't even use my mouse in that. I much prefer EOF.

lolz i remember feeling the exaact same way

but its really not that hard to do. although i cant really help you since im not a eof user.
you do infact need to make an event called ''big_rock_ending''
you also need to highlight the bre section with starpower
then click on ur bre tab highlight all the notes to the end of the bre

since i use feedback i didnt have to add ''big_rock_ending'' event or starpower cause i did it in feedback.then all i did was open up the mid in eof and add the bre with the bre tab simple as that.

im a noob when it came to midi editors and didnt understand it at first. but after going to scorehero and reading a rock band midi events tutorial and after a few days of playing around i was able to achieve how to make bre's and drum solo's with feedback and anvil studio. so if a noob like me can do it so can you.

feedback is an excellent program but everyone has there personal preferences.
marvinpa was supposed to make a tutorial for eof users trying to create bre's but it never got done. at first i tried pm'n fof users on how to do this but never got any replies..so i had to figure this out on my own. i even went as far as asking fof fretters if they could create the bre for me and that got me no replies either.

so keep trying..and if u still cant figure it out..send me a pm and ill add it for you
otherwise goodluck

Wow, thanks, I was finally able to get it down. I did exactly what you said in EOF. Though I didn't know you had to mark the BRE notes with starpower. Thanks a lot!
