I hook my drum set up to my PC with the MIDI to USB cable that RedOctane sent me, but it won't let me use the drums as a controller.
Alarian mod BTW
How do I play the drum tracks with my GH:WT drumset?

Re: How do I play the drum tracks with my GH:WT drumset?
i guess your drums are now connectet like a MIDI deviceto your PC right?
i'm using a e-drumset for playing drums in FOF and i'm using the programm MIDI2KEY to convert the MIDI signals to a key on your keyboard.
you can download it here:

Re: How do I play the drum tracks with my GH:WT drumset?
Actually the WT drumkit should detect just like a normal joystick NOT a midi device. same as the RB drumkit or a guitar controller. none of these send midi inputs to the computer and the only way the WT drumkit will is if its connected via the midi port. But id suspect that jaredhenry13 has just plugged it in via the usb . Just as a side note jaredhenry13 You have got a wireless dongle for your PC right? the drumkit is wireless so it needs a wireless dongle connected to the PC before the PC will allow you to connect the drumkit to the computer. IF you have allready done this, so the dumkit is registering as a controller in Windows game devices, then all you need to do is this....
Load FOF go to the controller settings screen, and set each drum as a different fret,
Yes i know it sounds crazy having to set what controller you use for a game ( its not like its been done on every other game
)
Then go to test controlls and see if they work.
If it doesnt appear in the Windows Game devices, it wont work for any game on the PC
EDIT @Gaia ah damn i totally didnt see the midi to usb cable part :) but yeah its only a midi in socket, for importing midis into GHWT Which works kinda ok too, not great but ok..

he said that he has connected the drumset with a MIDI to USB cable ;)
but i've just noticed that the drumset only has a MIDI in so for this way you will never get some data out of your drumkit to the pc.
the only solution for you is, as nobby76 already said, to buy a microsoft wireless dongle for your pc

Re: How do I play the drum tracks with my GH:WT drumset?
Midi to USB is not simply just a cable but involves a small box in the middle to convert the signal. If your soundcard has a midi connection then it may be better to use a midi to midi cable. Not having seen your red octane cable I have no idea if it will work, it is of course worth a try.
From what I have read about the WT drums the midi out it just that, just like electronic drums. So pretend your WT drum kit is a real kit and visit this post for excellent information on how to connect a real kit.

Hope this helps.

The midi socket on the GHWT drumkit is not, i repeat NOT midi OUT, it is MIDI IN meaning it will accept inputs but will not output those results the only thing that midi socket is for , is importing midi into GHWT.
the reason you can connect a real elec drumit is the fact that you are connecting the kit into the GHWT drumkit, then the ghwt drumkit is passing that information to the game via its wireless transmitter. which is basically doing the same as if you was sending a midi track to the WT drumkit ( importing to ghwt ) but you cannot use the midi to usb cable to controll what comes out of the drumkit. its like having a car that doesnt have a reverse gear. you can make it go forwards but not backwards the same applies to the midi socket. from a PC or another elec drumkit the signal goes forward into the drumkit, and forward more to the console or FOF via a wirelss signal. but you cannot make the signal come backwards. dont beleive me, just look on the back of the dru7mkit at the midi socket where it says " midi IN " if you want the signal to come backwards you need a midi out socket if you want it to go both ways you need a midi in/out socket
