In your device manager, right click the "unknown device" and click uninstall, then at the top of the device manager click the "scan for hardware changes" icon. It should reinstall the driver for your xplorer and if not you may have to reinstall the driver.

if its still saying unknown device he cant set his keys coz it doesnt know what the guitar is... it should say something like " xbox360 controller" in the windows controller screen, if it says unknown then it obviously hasnt spotted the drivers.
@nicholax delete/ uninstall your unknown device again then try going here http://www.microsoft.com/hardware/gaming/download.mspx Its the DL link for the X360 controller drivers, try reinstalling them ( your drivers may have got damaged some how)
Do this with your guitar unplugged, then once they are installed, plug your guitar back in and see if that helps.

It did the "Unknown Device" thing on my computer, and then shortly went into installing the device, which I was guessing that had happened to the OP, and he just didn't realise it. After that happened to me, I just mapped the keys and it worked. Also, he never came back and complained that it didn't work, otherwise I would have pointed him towards that driver.
