ok, i found a few programs to get an MP3 to a midi and make it into the song you want for FoF
say you wanted it for an atreyu song that wasn't done well, but its not posted twice. u can make it your self, with these few steps
Things You Will Need:
1: Frooty loops studio - http://www.tucows.com/preview/209204
2: Goldwave Media Converter - http://www.goldwave.com/release.php
3: Amazing midi - http://www.simtel.net/product.download.mirrors.php?id=68511
Step 1:
Open Goldwave and open the MP3 (or any other music file) and click File>save as and save it as a wav file format
note: you don't have to change the attributes
Step 2: Open the amazing midi and open the MP3 u saved as a wav file.
Step 3: in the boxes that say input file and tone file. put the song midi u made in their. The amazing midi will automatically make the output file into C:\Program Files\Amazing Midi\ (song)
and their you go, in 3 simple and easy steps, you have a midi, i have only done this once. but it did work, i just cant be bothered to follow nobby76's tutorial on how to make the song and stuff
and this part is for the admin, so this topic doesn't get buried, can you please stiky it if u feel the need to
if you have any questiosn on this, email me at and make the subject name as 'FoF help'
i will get pictures very soon, i promise
thanks

This doesnt actually help anybody! as there is nothing new compared to my tutorial! if you allready have fruity loops, then you dont need any other midi editor ( or..... you can do in any other midi editor exactly the same as i did in fruity, seeing as i only used the midi elements of fruity in the first place! ) the audio track can be loaded into fruity as an mp3 for the match up and syncing, then you just have to convert the audio to .OGG
In fact reading through your * cough* " tutorial" you actualy take more steps than i do! why are you using 2 midi programs and why are you having to convert the audio track TWICE!! you shouldnt have to convert the audio from MP3 to WAV then to OGG when your finished?? thats just extra work for yourself. Doing it my way you only have to convert the mp3 to OGG WHEN your ready to copy it to the game folder and theres no messing around with WAV files either.
You just edit your Downloaded midi in fruity ( or any other midi program ) then copy that and your Ogg & ini files to your songs folder And its ready to rock and roll!
Sounds like 6 steps rather and 3 to me!

woodsy1 wrote:yea, i noticed that as well, im looking into a better WAV to MIDI converter.
and for nobby, this makes midi files, and i thought of this tutorial because the midi files i wanted couldnt be found by any site
Well it is a good idea, I'll give you that. But it's not exactly practical.
I try to be really fair so I tried 5 different songs in different styles.
Trapt - Echo
Nirvana - Lithium
Flyleaf - So Cold
Nin - Head Like a hole
Less than Jake - Yo Yo Ninja Boy
And while the intros were well noted, the choruses and actual verses tended to sound like alien appregios.
But really. It IS a good idea. Keep up the work.

Oh sorry. i miss understood.
yes i used to use Wave to MIDI software about 6 years ago to make ring tones for mobile phones.
But i just got fed up of them being so rubbish at detecting the proper sounds.
There was a thread about this sort of thing a few months ago, some guy wanted to use a wave to midi converter but couldnt get decent results coz of the audio throwing in so many bad ( or uneeded ) notes. Idealy you need the guitar track seperate from the rest of the audio, as any extra noise in the background can and usually does get interpreted as notes, so if you got drums and singing in the song too, it can cause some major problems some times. Ultimatly thats why the other guy gave up trying to use that sort of software.
BTW just as a side note, if you cant find the midi of a song your looking for, you can allways download " guitar tabs" if you have something like power tab editor or guitar pro, you can use them files ( as they are basically midi files) you just have to tell guitar pro/ Power tab editor to export it as an actual midi, then its just as usable as a midi.
And to be honest, ive never failed to fing the song im looking for. if its not as a midi i know ill be able to find it as a set of TABS for a guitar editor.
But yeah the idea itself is good, but its just a shame that most wav2mid converters ( even expensive comercial ones ) never seem to give good results, unless you have seperate audio tracks.
