I recently downloaded a midi off score hero for 311 - down.

I synced up my MP3 and notes to start at the same time as the video.

However, the midi gets spaced out over the song and ends up lasting about 5+ seconds longer than the song.

Do scorehero Midis need any converting before using them with FOF?

I had the same issue it's because MIDI files can't have decimal values set for BPM

so when you edit the MIDI you can put in a decimal but when you save it it rounds to the nearest whole number

Any idea is future versions of FOF will fix this? Would I have to go in and edit each value in the midi file to fix this?

huh? FoF's midis (which are the GH midis) have decimal values, and FoF reads them just fine.
My mod (for fof version 1.2.451):

Latest release (5.23), there's a readme in there to install & stuff (source code included).

MIDI's can have decimal values set for BPM. Use Anvil Studio. It only displays it as a whole number, but if you go into the "Metronome and Tempo Settings" it will show you the actual BPM.

You're mp3 may be the wrong bitrate, and thus is being played too fast.

What is the recommended bit rate. I'm sure it's 128. This was a file I got off Napster a loooooong time ago. Maybe I'll grab the album try to find the album and make a new mp3.
