A new game that can attract Your attention

Postby BounceTheBeat » Fri May 06, 2016 2:48 pm

Dear FoFiX Fans!
We (two engineering students) are making a game that can attract Your attention.
BounceTheBeat is a fast paced, reflex game which is based on the music, selected by the player from his/her own songs. In the game you take control of a bouncing ball and your goal is to reach the end of the song without dying. Yes... dying. If you fall down, you die, if a laser hits you, you die, if you bounce into a trap you die. Sounds fun doesn't it? Of course not everything tries to kill you, there will be different power ups, which will help you survive the run.
We started our indiegogo campaign, there is a gameplay video on it (about the current state of the game, but we are continuously making it better). We really appreciate any kind of help, if you have any great ideas share them with us on our Facebook pate. If you like what you see share it with other game lovers.

That does look great! Do you really need $3600 for the game, though? I don't know much about the cost of making games, but that goal might be a bit much for your first game, if you don't have a fanbase. I feel a bit hesitant contributing to a kickstarter that needs $3600, that probably won't make that goal, but is flexible funding.

Also, by "music selected by the player from their own songs", do you mean that I can just use any mp3 file I have on my computer, like you can in Audiosurf? that'd be super cool.

I really think this game looks pretty good, I'm curious to see how it'll turn out!:D

I think it looks like a cool idea for a game, one that I'd definitely play, since I'm a fan of Audiosurf and Kickbeat and other kinds of non-peripheral-based rhythm games.

However, there are a few questions unanswered, at least some that I had:

Is there going to be a soundtrack that comes with the game, well, not exactly soundtrack, but songs to play shipped with the game, preferably one that showcases all the features the game has?

What does your budget look like? What things do you need for the game's development? How much money is going towards each thing that you need? Is there any money going towards licensing more content in the form of music?

What's the state of development so far, as of right now, is there any chance of a playable demo or alpha/beta release?

I think that's about it, and I'm not trying to be super critical, I just think that these are questions that should be answered for any potential backers. I'm also not a big fan of flexible funding, personally, and I do think that $3600 is a bit much, especially with how good the game looks so far. Another thing to remember is that crowdfunding isn't just about paying for a product to be made, it's an investment that people expect to be paid back, in some way. Again, I'm not trying to be rude by saying any of this, it is just stuff to be aware of/keep in mind. I wish you guys good luck with this project, and with the questions answered, I'd definitely be willing to pledge to it. All in all, looks good so far!

EDIT: To clarify, I'm suggesting that all the information I mentioned in the questions should be available on the Indiegogo page, specifically.
