New "trailer" - Drums! | Sneak peak of Barracuda in GH:ToL!

New trailer! Check out the first guitar setlist here!

Hello everyone!

Today, I bring you my ultimate project - Guitar Hero: Tour of Legends. "What is it?", you may ask. Well, believe, that this is nothing less than recreation of GH 3 songs into GH WT! Nothing special, you may say. But there's more! I don't only "copy" the charts into GH WT, I also adjust them so they inlude all of the new techniques that GH WT brings, e.g. slider, broken chords, open bass note, and last, but not least, I create drum parts for the songs too.

"Oh drums, you mean those always accented notes with no support for orange cymbal" - not true! All my charts have support for 5 lane GH drums, which means they include orange cymbal.

I started this project way ago, I think 2 years ago, but back then I didn't actually have the tools to make this happen (or make this happen quickly). Later I dug more into the files of GH WT and wrote myself some programs which helped me to speed up the process of creation a little bit. And so, after I finished my school leaving exams, I resumed the work on this project (since the 2nd half of May).

Please read this before playing!
Here are some facts you need to know before you start playing my mod.

- The charts are expert difficulty only. There are few exceptions (really hard songs, mostly drum parts) - Cities on Flame with Rock and Roll, Cliffs of Dover, Raining Blood, Through the Fire and the Flames (drums and guitar).
- Also, some charts have Expert+ for drums, although they are stored in Hard difficulty (if you want to play Expert+, you need to select Hard difficulty) - Barracuda, Before I Forget, Belly of a Shark, Cemetery Gates, One, Rock of Ages, Sunshine of your Love, The Devil Went Down to Georgia, The Metal.
- If you think some songs are too difficult, try writing here and I can create Hard difficulty for it (if I feel like it :P). Most notable are the boss battles, which may be more difficult, than in the original GH3, and also The Devil Went Down to Georgia.
- If you think the charts are off-sync, you need to adjust your Audio Lag in the game. For me (on my computer), this value is 125 ms, so if you are not sure where to start, you can use this value, but of course this depends on your computer.
- This mod was created in GHWT version 1.0.1.25215. (But I don't think there is any other version lying around).
- The game will delete your current save files due to setlist changes. Please back up your old saves.

Some notable bugs:
- Sustained notes in very few number of songs are displayed as single notes. I don't know why the game does it, but in the files the note is defined as sustained.
- In some instances of overlaping sustained notes, there is a visual glitch while playing other sustained notes.
- If you play drum song on hard difficulty, if the next song doesn't have hard difficulty defined, it will skip this song. When played in career, it will cause the game to crash before the Encore song. This will be fixed soon.
- Artist name for the song "In Love" is Metallica, no matter what I try to replace it with Scouts of St. Sebastian.
- After completing a gig in Career (not including the paid ones), new posters might not appear on the wall. Just try to scroll through the entire wall, they should appear.
- After completing a gig in Career, after the saving screen the game might crash in rare occasions. Just start the game again. (This might be a game problem, I actually experienced this even on clean game).
- When playing overlaping notes, you can actually press all the buttons that are lower than the highest note in the sequence without breaking the sustain. (For example - you have sustained Green and play only Blue, but you can also press Red or Yellow during the sustain, even if they are not in the entire sequence). Again, I don't know why the game does this, in the files it is correct.

Here you can find the old progress table. If you want to know, which songs are in the game, look into the spoiler.

perhaps you can try fsbext. after reading your problem fsbext will extract the contents of the fsb(how I obtained the multis) and also has the switch(its a cmd line tool) to rebuild the fsb.

Code: Select all

FSB files extractor 0.3.2a
by Luigi Auriemma
e-mail: [email protected]
web:    aluigi.org

Usage: fsbext [options] <file.FSB>

-d DIR   output folder where extracting the files
-l       list files without extracting them
-s FILE  binary file containing the informations for rebuilding the FSB file
-r       rebuild the original file, in short when you use -s:
if you do NOT use -r will be created the binary file with the info
if you use -r will be read the binary file (-s) and will be created a
new FSB file (so it becomes the output and not the input)
         Example:   fsbext -s files.dat    input.fsb
                    fsbext -s files.dat -r output.fsb
the tool will remove any header in the imported files automatically
-p PASS  if the file is protected by password the tool will use this one
-o OFF   offset where is located the FSB data, use -1 to scan the input file
-e P T   only encrypt/decrypt the file without doing other operations using
the password P and the algorithm type T (0 and 1 supported)
-E T     raw decryption using an empty password and algorithm T (read above)
-f FILE  dump the list of extracted/listed files in FILE
-A       assign the ima_adpcm tag (0x11) instead of the xbox adpcm one (0x69)
to the output files that use an adpcm codec
-v       verbose output, debugging informations
-m       disable the mpeg modifications, by default the tool automatically
remove the non-standard padding from mp3 files and dumps only the
first channel of multichannel files. use this option to disable them
-R       raw output files (by default the tool adds headers and extensions)
this option is NO longer needed if you plan to rebuild a fsb archive

NOTE: by default this tool dumps only the first one or two channels of
multichannel mp3 files to make them playable on standard music players,
use -m to avoid this behaviour!
NOTE: use EVER an empty folder where placing the extracted files because this
tool adds a sequential number if a file with same name already exists
since filenames in FSB archives are truncated at 30 chars.

although, you would have to have the extraction key for the fsb to do it. then you'd need guessfsb.

Isn't it smarter too post this in the W.I.P. section, since this isn't really a different game, just songs from a different game? If i understand correctly?

Thank you, bluzer for that awesome idea! It worked! Sometimes the simplest way is the best.

Yhughu - well, Ithought this forum is about other games than FoF, including GH as stated in the description. Yes, this is WIP, but I thought that that section is for FoF projects only, so I posted it here.

Well, I don't know if it is possible to get them to PS3... I know that QueenBee can open PS2 files, but for PS3 there is no option for opening. And the other problem would be with the music files, as I don't know absolutely anything about how the PS3 files are encoded, where are stored, etc. So for now, I will only stick to PC, sorry.

Oh I don't mind at all, I was just wondering if it was possible at all to create files for Guitar Hero on PS3, which apparently isn't possible, So i'll just stick to Phase Shift :)

Actually, I plan to port this project after it is done to Phase Shift (with help from bluzer), but I need the GH version first. So that is a little far away yet.
By the way, there is a new "trailer" available!

Unfortunatelly no, there won't be vocals, as there is no tool which can import them into GHWT files. Also it is mentioned in the main topic.

Yes, I plan on adding them there. Maybe if someone told me how to add and remove items from QB file, they could be in GH too... (but I can't do in C/C++/C#, using Delphi)
