Re: Phase Shift [v0.71]
I've done some base code for supporting vocals and as such I'm starting to get things ready for it.
Thanks

NICE! I wasn't expecting you to do anything for it considering your lasts post on the subject.
I'm very excited to see all the new features :).

I'm not a big fan of vocals but this is a great move for the game! It's getting so close to perfection...

There is tollerence for strummed HOPO's. It's about 80ms.
Thanks

Re: Phase Shift [v0.71]
david, remember that bug I reported about having the background set to 3D stage and having video override on at the same time? i had it on .71, you said it didnt happen to you sot that you may of fixed it, well I just tried it on .72 and that still crashes the game it notes about not having a valid video file in the gamelog
-- Edit: Thu Jan 27, 2011 10:33 pm --
also, does video delay set the delay for video backgrounds too? if not what would I put in the song.ini to accomodate for the video delay?

I'll look into the video background issue again.
It currently doesn't delay the background but I'll fix that.
Thanks

First I'd like to say thanks for your patience while all the new features are implemented. I'm very close to a release now and hope you will all enjoy what we've been cooking up. In the meantime I want to inform you of the song.ini difficulty tags that we've adopted for the real instrument and harmony parts.
Full List:
diff_band - Normal Band Difficulty
diff_drums - Normal Drums Difficulty
diff_bass - Normal Bass Difficulty
diff_guitar - Normal Guitar Difficulty
diff_keys - Normal Keys Difficulty
diff_vocals - Normal Vocals Difficulty
diff_drums_real - Real Drums Difficulty
diff_bass_real - Real Bass Difficulty
diff_guitar_real - Real Guitar Difficulty
diff_keys_real - Real Keys Difficulty
diff_vocals_harm - Harmony Vocals Difficulty
Thanks
David
I'm making plans for supporting this in EOF, but one thing I've encountered is that there are no difficulty tags for the "PART GUITAR COOP" (lead guitar) and "PART RHYTHM" (rhythm guitar) tracks that have been supported since the early days of FoF. Perhaps some more tags ("diff_lead" and "diff_rhythm") could be added? Eventually, it may be nice to add support for pro instrument tracks that are not handled by RB3 (such as pro rhythm guitar), so eventually even more difficulty tags may be needed.

I had been thinking about this but I thought that it wasn't allowed to have both a normal guitar part and a lead part. I assumed that Rhythm Guitar replaced Bass and Lead Replaced Normal Guitar and they couldn't run together. As such I expected they would share the same difficulty tag and audio tracks. If you are wanting to seperate them completely then we would also need to support the extra audio files. I'm up for doing this but I would think it would cause some backwards compatibility issues for old songs where they are shared.
I guess I could write some code which would check for the seperated audio files and if they are not found revert back to the shared ones. However, this whole situation is a mess as the file name for Bass Guitar is backwards ( rhythm.ogg For Bass ) and you would want bass.ogg for that instead.
This was quite poor foresight but I assume this was a way to get it supported with minimum effort.
Thanks

Re: Phase Shift [v0.71]
I don't know if those two MIDI tracks have any specific audio files tied to them as far as whether FoF will automatically associate one with rhythm.ogg over the other. Audio aside, I believe they are free to use the regular combined guitar.ogg or song.ogg files as necessary, and I have made and played a chart that has one each of regular, rhythm, lead and bass guitar MIDI tracks with just a single audio file (guitar.ogg) file for the entire chart. I'm not aware of any limitations in FoF that would prevent the use of a chart that had all of the standard guitar MIDI tracks populated (PART GUITAR, PART GUITAR COOP, PART RHYTHM, PART BASS).

PS currently supports all the parts in any configuration but without unique audio files for Rhythm and Bass aswell as Lead Guitar and Normal Guitar. I would like the seperate the audio if I can.
I'll see what I can come up with.

Re: Phase Shift [v0.71]
You might want to check with jstump, but if there is no standard for this yet, it may be best to implement new song.ini tags that can map the appropriate audio file to a track, something like:
Eventually, a similar tag system might allow people to provide a custom name for an instrument track.
Code: Select all
track_audio "PART GUITAR" = "guitar.ogg"
Eventually, a similar tag system might allow people to provide a custom name for an instrument track.
