Re: Neversoft dies
if you think they aren't going to release a GH game for even a year you're being stupid

vedicardis got a point
activisions milking every series they put there money into just to give there employees a higher paycheck
basically you can expect a GH10 in about 6 months.

Re: Neversoft dies
Here's an update on this situation, GH6 is Neversofts last GH, Vicarious Visions is going to be taking over the series in April when the unannounced GH6 is supposibly done. Prepare for some aweful charts.....literally

I have always felt bad for Neversoft. Their Spider-Man game on the PlayStation is a forgotten classic and a precursor to the free-roaming Spider-Man games on PS2 and beyond. Gun was a critical and financial success that was set in the wild west. Apocalypse (starring Bruce Willis) is a highly underrated third-person shooter that more-than-hints at Robotron. Rather than being known for these titles, Neversoft is known today for their work on the Guitar Hero series.
After Guitar Hero 6, they won’t even have that.
According to sources at both Activision and Neversoft, after the developer completes work on technically-unannounced-but-we-all-know-its-coming Guitar Hero 6, the publisher will hand the groundbreaking franchise over to Vicarious Visions. Vicarious Visions has some history with the Guitar Hero franchise, having worked on the Wii ports of every GH console game since Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock. The studio works on the Nintendo DS Guitar Hero: On Tour series as well.
For a little additional creepiness, it was Vicarious Visions whom Activision awarded the Spider-Man license to create Spider-Man 2: Enter Electro.
This spells trouble for the developer. According to the same source, several members of the Guitar Hero team have been laid off (specifically several “note trackers”) and there are currently no official projects post-GH6.
UPDATE: Though there have been many layoffs at Neversoft, those who are currently working on the aforementioned Guitar Hero 6 are being kept until their jobs are complete at which time they’ll be let go. In layman’s terms — April. They’re being told today that they’ll be fired in April.
UPDATE 2: No more need to call this a rumor…
UPDATO MAGNIFICO: Just to clarify, nowhere was it mentioned that the studio was closing. Not in this article. Not to me. Nowhere. Just in case anybody was assuming as much (i.e. NeoGAF).

don't they make the GH: on tour games?
They did the DS versions, and handled the Wii ports

1. Felt or undergone as if one were taking part in the experience or feelings of another: read about mountain climbing and experienced vicarious thrills.
2. Endured or done by one person substituting for another: vicarious punishment.
Their name makes me laugh, considering that they keep getting big projects second hand from Neversoft.

how could charts be awful in a non-literal sense?
also the charts won't be any worse. It's going to be the exact same quality as GH3. Just new developers that have no clue how to chart and without any knowledge of music theory charting songs, which was the exact same situation neversoft was in with GH3.
IE BSRaven will love it
Re: Neversoft dies
Here's what I don't get: Why does ACTIVISION keep screwing over Neversoft? They were just starting to get good with GH:M, and then Activision pulled the plug and handed it over to Beenox, who completely dropped the ball for the most part, and then gave it back to Neversoft after an extended break! GHVH's charts didn't seem too bad either, so it looks like they're starting to figure it out again after Activision **** them all over by basically stunting their growth, and now Activision is just going to do it again!

This post is retarded. Give employees a higher paycheck? Doubtful, as they can hardly seem to given them even a smaller paycheck! And did you even read the thread? They aren't just going to spam the series, they realize that it's a dying breed; Guitar Hero isn't the new thing anymore, it looks more to me like they're going to slow down with it and either lay it to rest or lay low then actually release something new along the same vein (that isn't DJ Hero, that failed due to the soundtrack and just general suckiness).

DJ hero as performed surprisingly well (financially) but I really doubt the sequel will go over well. It'll be interesting to see what improvements come with the sequel.

Wow what? I had been under the impression that it tanked. Well either way, clearly the long term reception was at least pretty low, at least from what I gather, seeing as I haven't heard anything about it since it's release anywhere.
