Scoring question-multiplier

Postby Fun498 » Sat Jan 17, 2009 8:58 am

Can anyone help me with this question I've been debating with since I first started playing? If you have a note pattern that repeats exactly in a song multiple times throughout the song, but you have a 1x multiplier going into one because you missed the note before and you have a 4x multiplier going into another, does it matter which one you use your starpower on? If you use it on the 4x to get an 8x, than you would get a lot of points, but if you use it to get the 2x, then you keep from getting minimal points. Couldn't find anything on this. Does Scorehero have something, or does anyone know.

Although I've wondered about it myself, the problem with figuring this out is the large amount of variables... BPM changes how long SP lasts, the amount of notes in a Beat is different in every song, and many other things including chords, sustains, etc.

If you're wanting to figure it out with a specific part of a specific song it's entirely possible to figure out which is better, but there is no way to figure it out for all of the songs.

Put simpler: the better way is different for each song

I'm talking about two exact same riffs on a song where you have a different multiplier. Like sometthing simple such as paranoid. If you activate starpower during the power chords with a 4x multiplier, or when you lose your multiplier.

WARNING! MATH!

Let's say you have 20 Yellow notes

YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY

50 pts per note (with no multiplier). Let's go through a few scenarios

Scenerio 1:

Blue means starpower
4x_________8x
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY = 6000

Scenario 2
4x________1x2x
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY = 2850

Scenario 3
1x_________4x
YYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY = 2500

Meh. Take what you want from it.
