I just tried Guitarfun out,

Graphic:

Really basic, but comes with 3D notes and supports necks and backgrounds from FoF. 7/10

Sound:

The sound is great, it even sounds better then out of the "Real" GH games, nothing suffers here. 9/10

Sync:

The songs you play are totally offsync, the sound starts too early, and so the notes dont come with the music... That problem makes it nearly unplayable, also the notes sometimes have weird gaps between each other, and BPM changes are hated too. 2/10

Additional Features:

It supports 1:1 Wammy like in Guitar Hero, it let you play with a 2nd player, it supports multiple controllers. 8/10

Hopo System:

The Hopo System works really well, you dont have any problems to play faster solos with it. 8/10

Fun(ness):

I had my fun to set the programm up, but the weird gaps between notes, the offsync charts, and the Starpower system shallowed it. Just play FoF... 1/10

5/10 [Skip it]

EDIT: For Guitar Hero 3 Wii Controller you have to unplug the Wiimote and plug it in again (while the program runs), then it works.

Lemme guess... It doesn't support "delay = " line in song.ini.

Try with songs that have delay = 0 or no delay line at all.

to be fair to the developers: i think the february build refers to the pc version, this version has been compiled 6th of july 2008!

So it might improve over time.. I'm willing to give it the benefit of the doubt also the syncing issues are really bad (especially in songs with bpm changes which are just unplayable at the moment).

do you add songs through apps\GuitarFun\songs?

1. game goes to "/apps/guitarfun" (or any other subfolder name you prefer, as long as it is in a subfolder beneathe "apps" you have to rename guitarfun.dol to boot.dol !

2. songs go to "/guitarfun/songs" (in the root folder of sd card, not in the apps folder).

As MoN01 already pointed out: syncing issues are quite hefty in this build, so if you wanna rent Zelda just for this, i doubt it's worrth it...but there's lots of other interessting homebrew (QuakeGX i.e. is one helluva port and i use GeckoOS for region free gaming on my unmodified PAL-Wii a lot).
