All the core coding is now complete and NetPlay is in a working state.
I was considering rushing out a release this weekend but there are a few features/issues I want to resolve first and as such there might be a mid-week release instead.

Thanks

Will it be possible for you guys can implement bass.ogg. I see that you guys only have support for what is offered in FoFiX, and bass.ogg isnt one of them. It would be so nice if you guys could do this

Amak, I do enjoy your disdain towards this project and you frivolous comments.
When you say bass.ogg I assume that you are referring to the Bass Pedal on the Drums as rhythm.ogg generally holds the Bass Guitar audio track.
And of course I could do this, it would take about 20 seconds of my time but why stop there?? I can add support for all the individual Drum Audio Tracks. Snare, High Hat, Crash Cymbal and Toms just like that available in GHWT and GH5. But would it ever be used?? There is hardly a clear standard on these things since your beloved FOFIX has ruined it for all the other games by its lack of support of these features. Most people in the older versions of FOFIX had to merge all the audio tracks into one as the performance increase was huge in a game that Flops Like A Fish!

Every day that passes that FOFIX does not support such features another 50 poorly made or ripped songs are created. PS has supported 5 Lane drums for ages now and not a single song has been created with support for it. 5 Lane support is NOT hard to implement. The same goes for Extended Sustains, Custom HOPO's, Slider Notes, Unlimited Players and Net Play for that matter. But until the FOFIX devs pull their fingers out, we'll be stuck with the same old format forever. I dread to think what will happen when Rockband Pro Songs start to surface but my guess is that they will be downsized and butchered to accommodate little old FOFIX.

If you make a game that trounces FOFIX then people will convert I hear you cry! But sadly this is not the case, people have been telling themselves that FOFIX is the greatest for so long they have actually convinced themselves that it's true. They have invested their time making mods and collating high scores that they now have a bear hug around it and they can’t let go even if they wanted to.
I find whole situation analogous to a woman who is beaten daily by her husband but that honestly believes that he will one day change and that it’s somehow her fault. I think you’ve all had too many black eyes to see that FOFIX is going nowhere and will continue to disappoint us all.

Don't let FOFIX tell you that you're not beautiful!

Thanks
David

p.s I'll add that I'm a little drunk so I'm sure this will be amusing to me in the morning.

Though that was a slightly drunken rant, I do believe it needed to be said. Development on FoFiX has pretty much stopped, whatever people say, and it just doesn't support things that PS does.

However, Phase Shift still lacks the extensive customisation options of FoFiX, and a number of small gameplay elements that I personally find important, like the way HOPOs after chords are handled on guitar (though, it's still not perfect in FoFiX)

Bass.ogg refering to the bass guitar, not rhythym guitar or drums. Thar be a difference ya know.

Also no need to go all Rambo on me. I have no major quams with any projects going on at the moment. My first coment refers to the fact IM NOT EXCITED ABOUT NETPLAY.
I was simply asking for support for a paticular item that fofix doesnt have support for (yet), and you run off all half cocked and guns blazing.

BAAAAWWWW, f*ck this, ill take the high road and leave this be. If you guys want to be childish about it, go ahead, ill let you.

Do any of the rhythm games even have both bass and rhythm guitar? Also, it's too late for you to take the high road.

Seriously, if Phase Shift adds Rock Band Pro support, I will definitely try to get charting support for it added to EOF. Pro keys would definitely be a great start though. Synthesia is a great concept, but they've chosen to take the path of developing a learning tool instead of a rhythm game, so they don't support things like a backing audio track. It looks like its release schedule has picked back up though, so that's promising.

Well, we did have a conversation about it on MSN, I guess it slipped your mind. I'll write up a couple of summaries for GH and RB types, because they handle the HOPOs after chords slightly differently. Then you can choose which one you want for PS. Letting the player decide would be nice, but perhaps problematic for online play.

I'm sorry, what was the ONLY selling point of that game you're working on again? You seem to be downplaying netplay a lot now that kiwi has doen it, quite a turn around from your previous view that rockfan was all about netplay and thats what acedia has been working on (for what a year, more?)

You're gutted, and its absolutely hilarious.

i have found something that is a bit odd with hopo's
here is my theory:
you press down the button, and strum the hopo millisecond's after you tap it, the game counts the strum as a random open strum

basically im strumming though a section that has alot of strummed notes and hopo's everywhere and i break combo on every hopo when i know my strumming is very steady, its a rock band song and i can do this same part on rb2 without breaking combo at all but here i break combo after every hopo

Yeah, PS detects you as hitting the HOPO because you press down the fret before the note comes, then you strum so PS reads it as an over strum. At least, I assume that is what is happening.

yup prety much, so i say kiwi should change it so if you have strummed after the hopo was hit, but still in the hit window of the hopo, you shouldn't break combo im pretty sure this is how rb2 works because i dont have this problem in rb2
