i was going to point this out earlier, but decided against it... and if that's an issue of some sort, you should just restart IE, if that doesn't work, or if IE consistantly doesn't work for you, switch browsers?

A new take on some of the suggestions so far:

If a post gets reported as spam, the alleged spam post could be hidden from the non moderators. The alleged spamming account can have its posts moderated until a moderator can deem that it is a legitimate account. If a moderator deems it to be a spam bot, the account can be deleted along with its posts, and the IP address used to post the spam could be added to a watch list. Any future posts from those addresses should be held for moderating automatically without having to be reported first.

It looks like the spam has gone to quoting random posts.

Unless that's already been happening.

That's already been happening, what's really annoying is when it quotes something like the OP of Puppetz Hero Zero and the like. I know what you mean about the random post quoting too though.

T3HM3T4L:I've tried to sign up for Rock Band but they just won't allow me. They keep complaining I have to 'be over 18' while I've already been 18 for over half a year, and a sign up where I noted I was born in the '50s STILL GAVE ME THAT MESSAGE

So if anyone could help me get these templates, I'd very much appreciate it. I need it to edit notes and stuff for my Rock Band 2.

aander91:Sorry, but that'd be providing for minors, which is illegal.

T3HM3T4L:But I'm 18 years old... ?

aander91:Nope. Sorry.

T3HM3T4L:Nono, you're getting me wrong, I was asking how come I am still considered a minor?

aander91:Look, we can't just go out giving these things away to people who just say they're over 18 and show no proof, we'd be out of a job.

T3HM3T4L:Nevermind, I'll use EoF for it, I found the way I could use it for that.

Sounds like the best idea so far. Definitely worth a try if it can be made work.

So, I could just click a button and someones post would disappear? Albeit temporarily I know..

I'd do it to everyone of slashfans posts I see!

Obviously not, but it is subject to being abused I reckon..

Not really, the mods would see who reported and what so they could easily issue warnings/bans to the people abusing the function.

Too easily abused. The occasional immaturity of these forums would result in people reporting posts just for the sake of 'trolling' and hiding posts from the entire forum when they don't like a certain someone.

The response time on reported posts isn't as good as it could be. I reported some posts a few hours ago and have seen staff online since, but as of right now, said posts have been left untouched.

Couple that with the lack of activity from a couple of staff members (not meant as a personal attack of any kind), and I'm left wondering if maybe an additional staff member or two wouldn't be a bad idea. If nothing else, to aid in removing spam that does make it through the cracks.

Do we use a CAPTCHA for registering?

Captcha is virtually useless nowadays.
