Fretsweb (FoF contest server)

Postby Slek » Sun Apr 12, 2009 8:32 am

Hello,

I'm Dsprenkels and my hobby is making websites and playing Frets on Fire.
Therefore, I've made a new open source contest server for Frets on Fire, I do not know any more FoF players (they all play Guitar Hero  ), but I need beta testers. Could some people here set up a Fretsweb plz?
The project is liscenced under the GNU GPL 3 and is available at http://cvs.codeyard.net/Fretsweb/.

I'll give it a try. I love to mess with things like this. Anyway, this should be great.

EDIT:I've set up a Fretsweb, unfortunately, I can't reset the database, I can't add songs, I can't add players. Any help please?

Wow, I didn't think it would fail that hard.
I suppose you just took the readme.php and did all steps?

I think that the problem is that you didn't create the database (in phpmyadim), because that had to be done manually.
I'll edit the init_db.php script so it'll do.

Thank you very very much for testing my Fretsweb, I really need it.

(It's a pity that I live in The Netherlands, but I'll try to give as much information as possile.)

I can't upgrade much right now, I'm readying my computer for Ubuntu 9.04:

Well, I've read and did all of the steps. I don't know why. The problem is the permission. I don't know, it always said persmission denied.

Oh, that's strange.
Are you sure your mysql username and password are correctly filled in in config.php?
(and the mysql account has the needed permissions.)

Could you please give more information about if you have the server on your localhost (windows or ubuntu), another host and stuff.

Yes, I'm sure of it. I copy it from the cPanel. xD I'm going to re-upload it. And re-do it. I'm going to make new database, new mysql user. Try if this works.

Ok, sounds good.
Did you ever do this with another site (like PHPBB).

Huh? What do you mean? Do with another site? You mean, do I ever mess with PHPBB or what? It seems my English is getting worse. I can't even understand what you said. xD

---- EDIT ----

Now I got this problem,

Code: Select all

Warning: mysql_numrows(): supplied argument is not a valid MySQL result resource in /home/a8931428/public_html/admin/addsong.php on line 74
. This morning, after I upload its OK. No problems like this, just the permission thing.

I'm trying on new host. Maybe the hosting that I'm using is bad. And see my mini - profile. Malaysia(Malay/Bahasa Malaysia as the my main language). And well, I've used PHPBB and any other forum softwares(CMS too). But I kinda like MyBB more.

Maybe, 'cause I don't see any problems with that piece of code.
Ok, I'm new here I didn't notice.

---- EDIT ----

---- EDIT ----

YAY! This is a perfect hosting! Hey, get online back! Come back... :(

---- EDIT ----

Someone, can you please play Avenged Sevenfold's Afterlife? Any difficulty. The sng I put for the testing is my own chart. Afterlife, any difficulties would do. Thanks!

Ok then.
http://fretsweb.phpzilla.net/
Well, there's only one player, me. But I can't play the game right now. I'm on my brother's laptop.

---- EDIT ----

Why don't you make a score chart too? A contest only is not fun. Maybe you could make the one like the official world chart? And we can get a score chart + some contests feature.

Do you mean when you click on score?
You can just keep the contest open all the time, it doesn't make any difference.
But I'll have to make more pages (song/player pages.)
Oh and I'm not going to copy the world chart server, because there's no way I can beat them and they already exist.

But I'll play right now. (After I downloaded the song.)
