New forum feature: "Wiki Posts"
Thanks to Raph666 (I helped too!), we have this cool new feature to share with you guys. It's essentially the benefits of a wiki (multiple user's contributions, history, etc.), embedded within a forum post.
Now don't get too excited. It's not something that everyone can use, but it IS something that everyone will benefit from. A good example would be MrFaust's ULTRA-MEGA Rock Band Thread. Now certain, trusted forum users can edit/contribute to that first post, without risk of screwing it up.
Notes:
* To edit the content of a "WikiPost," you have to be a member of the PostWikiEdit phpBB group. Membership will not be granted unless you PM me with your intentions (such as, "I want to contribute to so-and-so topic"). Join by going to the Usergroups tab in the User Control Panel.
* Currently, regular posts can only be converted to a WikiPost by Raph666 or myself. It's not a quick or easy process, so if you think a post deserves conversion, then PM one of us.
* Typical wiki courtesy and guidelines apply, of course.
For editors:
* Wiki login page can be found here.
* Wiki articles are named according to the post ID of the post in question. In the above example, the wiki article is named: 317818

Re: New forum feature: "Wiki Posts"
So what does this give us access to? We can edit other people's posts like a real wiki-site?
Can we get this forum going again?

Only certain posts and only by certain people. At the moment, only one post is set up this way (the ultra-mega RB one).

This sound cool. How would one go about getting permission to create a new page on the fof wiki?

So, with this you apply to become a member of the PostWikiEdit edit group, and if approved this allows you to log into the post wiki linked in the first post, and then edit any existing wiki post, right? That's all there is to it?
Just making sure I've got the whole idea right.

That's my impression of it. Becoming a member of the PostWikiEdit group doesn't give you permissions to create new pages though, so I suppose new pages must be initially created by the mods? I know the OP talks about conversion to wiki-friendly format, but I did my reading and used MrFaust's post and a few others as examples (and thanks Raph for some pointers!).... my Careeer/Discog/SongThread post is sitting in a text document ready (but untested) to go on a wiki page that would need to be created.
This will be truly awesome for some of the large group-project posts that have been maintained by a sole individual updated from comments until now.
