Apparently, Harmonix is testing the waters toward creating Rock Band 4. According to the article, the question is not if, but when. This could mean FoF will revive sometime in the future!

Re: Harmonix Clues in Rock Band 4
Harmonix certainly wouldn't send out a survey if they had no interest in picking the franchise back up again. I guess the thing to watch for now would be them placing job announcements for anything rhythm game related. Having one of every pro instrument, I'll buy into a sequel if they keep at least one pro instrument, although I really hope they keep pro guitar/bass alive. The button/sensor based pro guitars were a flop, but pitch detection has been proven to be usable enough for rhythm gaming so they should consider that option. It probably doesn't take a poll to determine that more Rock Banders have access to a real guitar or bass than either of the pro guitar controllers. Porting the old DLC library over to current generation consoles would be of secondary importance to me, although I have a bad feeling it's more likely they'd focus on the DLC crossover than pro guitar.

I actually hope they reinforce their peripherals to be more durable or at least have exchangeable parts. I can't remember how many times I had to replace my bass pedal....

Maybe I'm remembering it wrong, but didn't the bass drum pedal connect with a tip ring sleeve connector? Couldn't you just get any first or third party Rock Band pedal and plug it in?

Re: Harmonix Clues in Rock Band 4
3.5 is just the size, not the style. The rock band pedals are actually the mono (TS) connection style.
I've seen a player usage chart that suggests a very big increase in users from Q4 2014 to now. Personally as much as I'd like to see a new game I think it is too soon. It's kind of a hard spot to be in. Wait too long and everyone will have gotten rid of their controllers. However release too soon and everyone will still be tired of rhythm games.
