I was really disappointed with this one personally.
Meh, Arising Thunder, Lease of Life and the Rage of the Waters were enough although some of the other songs weren't as good. I replaced it tho so check my original post for what I changed it with.
Personally I'm way more disappointed with The Obsidian Conspiracy - Nevermore and Jupiter - Athiest, I had real high hopes on those.
Hopefully 2011 will be badass with the new albums from Sunless Rise, Symphony X, Necrophagist, Adagio, and of course Dirty Man Swedish Sex Beast - Günther

but seriously how have you not heard of blind guardian, overkill, or at least Gorillaz jesus
also I thought jupiter was good I dunno why no one else likes it
Sorry, bad wording on my part, I havn't heard of any of those ALBUMS, not the bands themselves. I don't think there's anyone left who hasn't heard of Gorillaz.
And Disturbed and A7X are good IMO, good Metal.
-Edit-
Another good album I forgot about of 2010 was For We Are Many, by All That Remains.

Admittedly, I only got about five albums from 2010, but I was disappointed with all of them save for The Final Frontier and, to a lesser extent, Year of the Black Rainbow.
But if we were allowed to include albums we only got around to hearing this year, my pick would be Dave Hole's Short Fuse Blues.
Considering this topic is about the albums of 2010.
1. My Chemical Romance - Danger Days: The True Lives Of The Fabulous Killjoys 2. Norma Jean - Meridional 3. The Pretty Reckless - Light Me Up 4. In This Moment - A Star-Crossed Wasteland 5. idk. but let's say The Black Keys - Brothers, cuz I like Tighten Up
Top EPs of 2010 for me were, unordered: A. Lights - Lights.Acoustic B. Cœur de Pirate - NRJ Sessions: Cœur de Pirate (Live) C. Altered Sky - We Can't Stand The Silence EP D. Megadeth - Sudden Death (single)
I dunno If I can make five but, in no particular order: Periphery - Periphery Fear Factory - Mechanize Ho-Kago Tea Time - Everything they released in 2010 lol(dunno what's up with me and anime songs this year) God of War(Various Artists) - Blood & Metal EP(I only really liked 3 songs, but I played them to death ^_^)
2009 was better for me music wise then 2010.
T3HM3T4L:I've tried to sign up for Rock Band but they just won't allow me. They keep complaining I have to 'be over 18' while I've already been 18 for over half a year, and a sign up where I noted I was born in the '50s STILL GAVE ME THAT MESSAGE
So if anyone could help me get these templates, I'd very much appreciate it. I need it to edit notes and stuff for my Rock Band 2.
aander91:Sorry, but that'd be providing for minors, which is illegal.
T3HM3T4L:But I'm 18 years old... ?
aander91:Nope. Sorry.
T3HM3T4L:Nono, you're getting me wrong, I was asking how come I am still considered a minor?
aander91:Look, we can't just go out giving these things away to people who just say they're over 18 and show no proof, we'd be out of a job.
T3HM3T4L:Nevermind, I'll use EoF for it, I found the way I could use it for that.
also I thought jupiter was good I dunno why no one else likes it
The lyrics sucked and I thought the guitars had too much lead. It didn't really resemble their old writing style, which was what I was hoping for.
The lyrics weren't incredible but I'd say "bad" is a stretch. Too much lead? Do you mean treble?
It wasn't exactly like their old style, it's been 20 years and all, but I don't think different is necessarily bad. I still found it interesting, though I hope their next effort will be better.

Also as stated in a deleted post: Forbidden - Omega Wave is the best thrash metal release of the year, forgot to mention it.

To Second to Sun:
Spoiler:Second to Sun, second to sun Like Jupiter, we are the ones All atoms, report to the sun... we are the ones. Like Jupiter we are the ones, all atoms report to the sun, We are the ones! The grandest performance, next in line to enormous. Epicureans say it the senses, over reason to finish the sentence. Gods and fear, glass ceiling above and below. Why are we here, you were so sure we thought you would know... you don't know!
And belief split to 4 like a cross on the floor It split front, back and side from side, LIKE A CROSS Front, back, side to side LIKE A CROSS! THEY CALLED IT GOD! I SAY THE SUN! You call it god, I'll worship the sun, without all her fire there won't be anyone. Second to Sun. I wanna live like the red spot Winds 11, 000 miles per hour, red red hot! I want my storm to never, ever end!
It's not that it was bad, it's just that Piece of Time is so god damn good that it's difficult to match.
And about the lead, I mean the lead guitar. It seemed like it was just, doing something all the time? I don't know, in that way it seemed to feel less like techdeath and more like Metalcore.
We can compare the writing between these two songs and see the major difference in styles. Second to Sun starts off with absolutely classic Atheist and then goes into the really odd guitar lead line that goes on for a while, and subtle changes keep on bringing your attention away from the vocalist and back to this repeating lead line as opposed to PoT's writing where the focus was drawn away from the instrumentals when the vocalist had parts and as soon as he was done, the instruments came right back in full force by playing the same exact thing that they were before but with subtle changes to force your attention back to them. It's just an odd reversal thing that I found slight annoying.
Even still, it really wasn't disappointing. Change can't be helped, and they managed to keep it close to home while still bringing fresh material to the scene.

I agree that the leads were not that great in Jupiter. I mean, in 20 years you could have at least learned a few more creative tricks and licks but a lot of it was "classic" metal soloing where it is a blues oriented solo (kind of like metallica solos and old megadeth solos)
There were a few cool solos and some of the riffs were cool but a lot of the writing wasn't that great. Hopefully they'll get back into their groove with their next album (if they don't take another break)
