Which do you think the most technical song is?

I would vote on deathcore and mathcore cause of the odd time sigs and weird rhythms... They can be b.itches to keep up with and much more tight than anything that is consisted of 32nd notes from beginning to end :)

After The Burial - Berzerker.

Of course there is the Progressive Genre, with some technical bands, but IMHO what beats them all is Jazz.

There are plenty of technically demanding classical solo pieces.

It really depends on the song, not the genre. For instance, Hands Without Shadows by Michael Angelo Batio is more technical than say Stabwound by Necrophagist even though Stabwound is a Technical Death Metal song while Hands With Shadows is a shred song.

However, the most technical song(s) in my opinion are:

- Dark Matter - Rusty Cooley
- Secrets Within - Francesco Fareri
- Next Profundis - Adagio
- Ignominious and Pale - Necrophagist

I know a lot of you don't care much for classical music, but I think that the Kodàly cello sonata is very technically demanding. The short excerpt above might not look very difficult, but is actually very difficult on cello.

It requires a really weird hand position and also you have to be able to press the strings with your index, middle, and ring fingers and strum chords with your pinky (and at the same time, playing a note with the bow). And because a normal human's pinky is connected to the ring finger via a ligament, attempting to play this part kinda hurts.

Also if your humming the excerpt in your head and wondering why it sounds weird, it's because there's a scordatura.

Hell, this is probably one of the most technical songs actually because of the time signature changes and technical playing. Sure most won't find it that good but it is extremely technical (Which is why the drummer is with Ron Jarzombek in Blotted Science now)

yep, i would say to stay at metal genre but yes, almost every genre has its most technical bands. Could you write down then some really weird technical jazz bands?

Actually yes, in songwriting, Tosin is one of the very best along with John Petrucci (IMHO), but to be honest there are far more technical stuff out there.
