Hey all, I'm looking into buying a new Electronic Drum Kit and I've narrowed it down to 2 different kits (for money, durability, sound ect...) and I can't decide which would be the better buy. Here are the 2 kits.
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Yamaha-DTXp ... 1172824.gc
http://www.guitarcenter.com/Simmons-SD9 ... 1401445.gc
They are both good kits, where one is a little better, the other is a little better in something else. It's a draw for me!
Best electronic drum kit for the money?

IDK about the Yamaha one, but I played the Simmon's one at my local GC yesterday and it is well worth the money if you have it.

Lol, those remind me of the ION Drum Rocker!
Also, I'm looking for something that has dual-zone chokeable cymbals. Does the Alesis DM6 have them (GC never lists it)?

Similar subject, what's a good drum VST I could use for midi's (price is irrelevant)?

Re: Best electronic drum kit for the money?
Dual zone means there are 2 different spots you can hit on the cymbal to make a sound, you can also program a different sound to each zone. So you could have the left of the cymbal a high-hat open, and the right a high-hat closed.
Chokeable cymbal means you can do an action called a choke. A choke is done by grabbing the cymbal with your hand right after you hit it. This makes the cymbal stop ringing. Say you want a really loud crash, but you also want it to be short, hit the cymbal hard, then grab it to stop the noise. If you can't choke the cymbals, it's impossible to get short loud crashes.
Chances are if you don't know what they are, the kit doesn't have 'em
-EDIT-
just read a bit, the snare is dual-zone, so if you hit the bottom of your snare, then hit the top, you'll see what I mean.

lol, I probably should've mentioned I'm looking for something in the $500-$900 price range. If price was irrelevant, I would go for something like this bad-boy! http://www.guitarcenter.com/Roland-TD-2 ... 1466335.gc

If you want BEST quality but still reasonable your either limited to the DTX-TREME (not sure about the dual-zone but fairly sure it does)
or the Roland kits... my old roland is 8 years old now and the only pad thats starting to lose out is the snare pad.
