I'm looking at buying a laptop (mostly for school) and i don't really know if i would be better off with a Dell studio 15 or just an Inspiron 15 the studio is about $100 more than the inspiron, But it looks better and it also comes with a free windows 7 upgrade... what do you guys think???

Re: which computer would you say is better?
apparently
they have the same amount of RAM
same screen size
both have Dvd/Cd burners
both have VGA ports - Studio also has an HDMI output
Studio has Integrated Intel X3100 GFX card
Inspiron has ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4330
Studio has 4 USB slots & 54 mm ExpressCard slot
Inspiron has 3 USB's & an SD card reader
(although all those things can be added externally anyway if needed - same for HDD size)
The Insipron is lighter, cheaper, slightly slower but has a longer battery performance - it doesn't have an HDMI output but most LCD TV's have a VGA input as well now
The Studio is faster, heavier, battery doesn't last quite as long & more expensive
As neither of them are anywhere near high-end, new games on high settings are totally out the question for both
& the difference in speed probably wouldn't be a noticable in the perfomance of other smaller tasks (running Blu-Ray rips, graphic programs, doing ya homework etc)
= think i'd go for the Inspiron as i also prefer the look of it.
guess the real question is though;
how much better would the Studio 15 run FoFiX on highest settings?

ehhh not so much... i won't be playing FOF very much. And my brother has an Inspiron that runs FOFix on the highest settings just fine... I am pretty set on the inspiron already but i am still sort of liking the studio...

Re: which computer would you say is better?
well yeah i could do ALOT better but i would prefer to keep it low cost. I live in a small town and there is no place to get a job. So all i can do is keep doing odd jobs and save up...

he wants to know your budget so he can get you a better deal nobo.
Re: which computer would you say is better?
ohhhh lol my bad i didn't think about that... i would not like to spend more than $650.
Re: which computer would you say is better?
That's a sort of tight budget. If all you need is something for school/college you'd probably be better off with a netbook, which are generally very cheap, have excellent battery life and, well, do the job. If you want something more heavy duty, for games and such, you are pretty much limited. You won't do much better than any of those on that budget. Try to contact your school to find out if they have any deals with laptop manufacturers, they sometimes offer hefty student discounts that allow you to get a great machine for a reduced price. Other than that, the best one of the bunch seems to be the Studio, as long as you get it without an Intel GPU.

As for your question, I'd say the Studio 15.

I don't really think it would matter much. I have an old Inspiron 1300 that runs FoFiX very well.
This is just a placeholder sig until I find something else to put here.

Oh god freaking damnit, I have a GeForce 8200 in this PC...
Also: Inspiron. They're generally pretty tough laptops (Not as tough as the old Latitude line mind) that're good for almost anything that DOESN'T demand top-end specifications.
