Music Recommendation Thread
This is an idea I stole from metal-archives.com.
Basically, if you need a band that sounds like such and such, good recommendations for getting into a genre, or anything else, post it here, and hopefully someone will be able to recommend you a band or two.
This isn't to be confused with the forum game, because this actually has basis, not "mention one of your favorite bands regardless of the tastes of above user".
Personally, I'd like some bands similar to Bad Brains' self-titled. Punks that play fast, but know what they're doing on their instruments, and that magical feeling of uniqueness.

I have a feeling Bad Religion is an obvious choice, but I've always liked them. Bad Brains is amazing, I think you might be spoiled :P but I'm not much of a punk authority.

Black Flag? I haven't heard much Bad Brains but Black Flag kinda fits your description. I'd recommend the album Damaged. Oh, yeah and In God We Trust Inc. by the Dead Kennedys is a good punk album (don't forget Fresh Fruit :p).
Now, for me, I'd like some bands that sound like Broken/The Downward Spiral-era Nine Inch Nails. Some good Industrial bands. I'm downloading Sehnsucht by Rammstein at they moment. Is that album any good? (I got it for Du Hast)

Dead Kennedys, Agnostic Front, Black Flag doesn't SOUND like they know how to play even though they do. Ah, try the Misfits too.
I'm looking for something that sounds like Diamond Head. Don't suggest obvious NWOBHM **** either gimme something good.
---- EDIT ----
if you like industrial you might like ministry

Okay I'll check them out. Any suggestions on what album in particular?

Re: Music Recommendation Thread
I personally hate them so I can't suggest anything, but check out their 3 songs in RB at the least. Lies lies lies and the great satan I think
---- EDIT ----
yeah they were the first post rock band I ever listened to. that was way back in 2004/2005
I found them while looking at label mates for the first "indie rock" band I had discovered entirely on my own (by the end of tonight). I thought I was going insane or something when I first listened to them. It was so depressing lol.

Psalm 69 is probably the most eclectic album. If you want the more metal side to dominate the industrial, check out Filth Pig. If you like the more industrial side, I'd go with The Land Of Rape And Honey.
Re: Music Recommendation Thread
I'm looking for bands with powerful, raw but clean vocals, such as Angra, Nevermore, DT, Symphony X, Metallica, Megadeth, etc, as long it isn't screaming/growling. Preferably in the same style as any of these bands.
Now, this is pretty wide, so I'm sure there are tons of bands who fit the description

Don't know if this fits your bill exactly, but maybe Dragpipe might fit your criteria.

Re: Music Recommendation Thread
I'm also looking for bands in the same vein as the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Muse, or The Dead 60's.
Kinda vague, but, eh, it leaves options.
