Re: Splitting rar Files
When you create a RAR file, you get the option of splitting into multiple "volumes", and can specify the maximum size of each volume, ie. 100000000 bytes (100 MB).
Re: Splitting rar Files
If you want 100 mb parts, be damned sure you put in "100 mb" and not just "100". It defaults to bytes and I don't think you want to split anything into that many parts.

Careful here. WinRar actually works in binary bytes, not the hard drive manufacturer/internet service provider decimal bytes
100MB (technically speaking, 100MiB) is in fact 100*1024*1024 = 104857600 bytes.
100000000 bytes is closer to 95.4 MB.
Or if you want to forget all of that, do what Rapt0r says and just be sure to put the gb/mb/kb suffix in the part size box.

Re: Splitting rar Files
You're getting into the whole Megabyte versus Mebibyte issue, and the fact that the two are used interchangeably. Strictly, speaking, 1 Megabyte is 1 million bytes, 1 Mebibyte is 1000*1024 bytes. Not that it matters a whole lot, but not everybody knows it.

I know. The whole concept of having two measurement units is rather absurd. As far as WinRAR is concerned, you're going to have to use binary bytes.
Also a Mebibyte is actually 2^20 bytes (or 1*1024*1024) = 1048576.

@OP: glad you can do it now.

That was a stupid mistake for me to make, given that I know it's 1024^2
