Album of the year for me is Fortress by Protest the Hero. Misanthropy Pure by Shai Hulud is damned awesome too, I'm just annoyed no one has tabbed any of it so I can chart it...my fretting by ear sucks.

Half the album is pretty good to say the least. If there were more good albums that came out this year it probably wouldn't be up there.

I want to say Death Magnetic because Metallica is my favorite band, but it just doesn't click with me... about 3 or 4 of the songs sound very similar to each other and Hetfield's voice has almost become annoying in some of the songs (The Unforgiven III, for example). That and it just doesn't sound like Metallica anymore. But that's not to say it's a bad album: All Nightmare Long is one of my favorite songs from Metallica.

btw, I only used the album for my avatar because it is current and looks really cool.

I haven't really listened to any other albums this year, so I guess Death Magnetic for me too.
