So, there has been many discussion and talk on Gamestop and Guitar Hero forums of a Christian Hero. People have wanted it. Well, the Christian game company "Digital Praise" delivered it. I was searching around and found a press release about it. Here it is.

Digital Praise® Inc, the leader in Christian-themed, family-friendly entertainment software, today announced Guitar Praise™, its new inspirational PC guitar game, at the International Christian Retail Show 2008 in Orlando. Combining unique play features with a playlist of today's most popular Contemporary Christian rock hits, Guitar Praise gives Christian retailers a headlining opportunity to build on the $1 billion guitar game segment that continues to smash sales records among young consumers.

In creating Guitar Praise, Digital Praise has applied its intimate knowledge of player tastes gained through its #1 best-selling Dance Praiseâ„¢ dance arcade game franchise. "Our research shows that 92% of Dance Praise families, and 100% of Dance Praise churches, are interested in Guitar Praise," said Tom Bean, President and CEO of Digital Praise, Inc. "People love the console guitar games on the market, but many would like more family-friendly songs and graphics. Guitar Praise gives kids, families and youth groups the play features they like best, plus some new twists as well as the best Christian rock titles out there today."

Leading the unique list of features in Guitar Praise is the ability to sing along with the game's chart-topping rock tunes, thanks to lyrics that scroll across the screen. "Guitar Praise can be an exciting group event ," noted Bean. "Having the lyrics onscreen reinforces the positive messages present in Guitar Praise's roster of songs, and allows everyone to take part in the game."

Inspirational Fun
Guitar Praise lets players act out their dreams of leading a rock band by playing along with their favorite Christian rock tunes. As the song and lyrics play, colorful notes scroll down the screen. Players must keep up by matching the notes to the fret buttons on the guitar controller included with the game. Four levels of play are offered—as the player completes songs, more tracks are unlocked and the challenge increases.

Guitar Praise features 52 of the most inspirational and pulsating tracks from the Christian rock world, all by the original artists. Today's most popular hits are combined with classics from the 80's and 90's; the playlist includes titles from Flyleaf, Skillet, Stellar Kart, tobyMac, Newsboys, Petra, 12 Stones, Spoken, Whitecross, Thousand Foot Krutch, Paul Baloche, David Crowder, and Red, plus many others.

As players shred through their guitar solos, Guitar Praise records high scores per song. New songs, in sets of five, are unlocked along the way to keep the player's interest. By tilting the guitar, players can activate spinner bonuses; as they increase their skills they can earn new onscreen "guitars" with richer sounds and different effects.

One or Two Players
Guitar Praise keeps the fun coming by allowing either one player to perform in solo mode, or two players to compete for the better lead guitar score. With a second guitar (not included but available from digitalpraise.com), players can jam at the same time—both on lead guitar, or one on lead and the other on bass. The game's Power Duel mode also lets players send "surprises" that impact their opponent's play.

Pricing and Availability
Guitar Praise supports both Windows and Mac personal computers and includes one wireless guitar controller, a USB wireless adapter, plus the game CD-ROM. (The guitar controller requires 4 AA batteries – not included.) Setting up the game is easy—just load the software into any PC or Mac, plug in the wireless adapter, switch on your guitar and you're ready to rock!

Guitar Praise carries an MSRP of $99.95 (USD) and is expected to be in stores September 25, 2008. During the International Christian Retail Show 2008, July 13-17, Guitar Praise will be demonstrated at the Digital Praise exhibit, Booth 417 in the Orange County Convention Center. For more information or to order Guitar Praise visit the exhibit or contact Digital Praise at [URL=http://www.digitalpraise.com[/URL]

So basically us Christians got what we wanted :)

Ok, so if you're thinking of flaming me by saying something like, "Oh, just get Guitar Hero, no difference" or "They edit out the curses" that's not what's stopping us from buying it. Well, for some can't afford it (well, this is about the same price) and the case for me is, my mom doesn't want me to get Guitar Hero or Rockband. So I am excited to see this. And no, not all the music will be praise. Take note of some bands such as, Flyleaf (Mainstream success), Skillet (Awesome guitar solos), Stellar Kart (Punk band that sounds sorta like blink 182 or Sum 41), tobyMac (They better put the insane guitar genius of the song Irene in this!), Newsboys (Meh...), Petra (...more meh), 12 Stones (Awesome sound reminiscent of Three Days Grace!), Spoken (Like, Post-Hardcore emo-ish sounding band, still good!), Whitecross (80's/90's band that sounds like AC/DC or Ratt!), Thousand Foot Krutch (Sorta like RATM!), Paul Baloche (Meh...again), David Crowder (Worship music never sounded better!), and RED (awesome, insane band! One of my favorites!)

So it's not a little kiddie setlist. It's gonna have over 52 songs. So, good or bad idea? DISCUSS!

Meh. I'll wait for you guys to convert the songs (no pun intended HARDY HAR HAR). :p I don't have the money to buy it.

That's why I'm sticking with FoF. Who knows. I may get the guitar if I like it.

Anyone else tired of people associating the word "Christian" with "family friendly?" That isn't to say that Christianity should be associated with anything negative, but I find it a bit testing when people throw around the concept that if it's Christian themed, that means it's family friendly. Or worse, that for something to be family friendly, it must be Christian (as your parents seem to think). It's kind of offensive really.

Eh, anyways, not trying to start a flame war. I support the product, I just don't necessarily support their motives for making it/the way they are advertising it.

Yeah, it's called being a martyr, you have to die to go to heaven or something.
On topic: Skillet went to my local church once, it was less then a mile away, but I didn't feel like going.

Lul, I was pumped as hell to go to the Rockstar Mayhem Fest, but what I forgot is that I didn't have anyone to take me. And that was 50 miles away. I'm just not a big fan of christian bands. I could probably have gone there on my bike in less then 5 minutes. God I'm lazy!

I'm not buying unless there's christian power/speed metal, which there will never be.

Well, you were right about the martyr part. But, you don't have to do that to go to heaven. Being a martyr is dying for your faith.

@egghead: I'm gonna rip the stuff from the game.
@nyrangers360: I was supposed to go to Rev Gen too, but I got no ride now! That stinks because I really wanted to see As I Lay Dying!
@crazy.neo: Christians don't have to play Christan games. Heck, if I buy this it will be the only Christian game I ever owned.
@mrhoeivo: Who ever said that Curistian games had to be family friendly? And my mom isn't telling me that this game is family friendly, it is though, but my point is no Guitar Hero for us because of parents. We get this.
@drphl: I hope! Even just a Christian metal pack would be sweet (packs are like DLC)

I'm sorry to tell you this, but you're not cool.

It's ok, man. Maybe I should put cool in my nickname.

@blackfriday: Christian games are a joke. Games directed towards any specific race/belief are a joke. Directed marketing doesn't REALLY work, and with what you originally posted, it seems like it's on it's way to sucking. 1 CD and 52 tracks? With separate guitar parts? Seems a bit much, no?
I do like that it's multi-platform, and even though all christian music sounds like normal music to me, I'd "buy" it. Just another guitar game to add to my collection.

PS: sound can be compressed that far, just may lack a bit on the quality.

I know what you are saying about the Christian games thing. They can be very lame. Only reason I even am buying this is because I cannot get Guitar Hero or Rockband. Also, this could mean more songs for you guys. Considering the fact, yes, 52+ new tracks for you guys. What they did for another game they made (a really lame rip-off of DDR) was they released different packs (sorta like DLC except they were physical packs) so they are like $10-$20 each and they have a good amount of songs. For the guitar game this may mean, they could have a metal pack, and the like. So, crazy.neo I see what you are saying, seriously, if I had Guitar Hero and or Rockband, I wouldn't bother about this game. But, I don't (doesn't mean I'm not good at it :p) So I hope you understand my point, and let's stop it at this, so we don't get warnings for religious wars.
