Man, can't forget the music Trent Reznor composed for Quake.

The guys that composed the music for the Call of Duty franchise (well COD 1 and 2, as that's all I've seen) also did a kick ass job, as game music is not just about the music itself, it's also the timing and the placing of the music. Like, in COD 1 when you're playing as the British and defending the bridge, and as you near the end the orchestral music begins to swell and your heart starts to pound. It's frickin' sweet.

Arc System Works, with all their wok on the Guilty Gear and BlazBlue series. More specifically, Daisuke Ishiwatari, for writing all the music and creating the games. The soundtrack of these games leave most "bands" to shame.

FF7 Boss Music FTW!!! :p

Razlo, you're the man right now! FF 7 = EPIC

Btw, to narrow it down, it would be Nobuo Uematsu. He made the music for LOADS of games, nicluding most early FF.

Uematsu of Square makes great music. Kingdom Hearts has some of the best music tunes I've ever heard.

Breath of Fire 2 on SNES had some great music.

Breadown on Xbox has some really epic music.... Ocarina of Time had a great soundtrack, and so did Link to the Past on SNES.

The Silent Hill games have some pretty good music, especially the second game.

Why people say Square? Didn't it should be Square Enix? And I love FF7 songs.

I'm going to be original and say Hitman series (IO Interactive / Jesper Kyd). I also loved the original Worms theme (Bjørn Lynne) when I was a small kid.

rather than saying a company, im gonna go with an individual artist " David Whittaker" he has been making computer game music since the early 1980's, for computers like the Commadore 64 and the Sinclair spectrum, and he still makes computer game music to this day.. but for PC games and consoles. He dosnt work for a company in particular tho he is an individual contract song writer.
