Re: Got my electronic drum kit (Roland TD-6)

Postby venom426 » Wed Jul 01, 2009 11:24 pm

Toms = In my opinion, these toms sound great.
Bass = Sounds good. Nothing special.
Pedals = Pretty Good. Great double pedals for only 100.
Left Crash = I love the sound and it was only around 70 bucks. It makes a great addition to the other crash.
Right Crash/Ride = Pretty basic sounding crash. **** Ride
Hi - Hat = Meh, the actual cymbals are decent, but the hardware is ****.
Snare - Pretty bad.

I'm gonna get a new snare after I get RB2. I saw a really cool one at Guitar Center for around 200, and I really liked the size + sound. There's also a better Hi - Hat stand at Guitar center for about 100 that I'm looking forward to getting.

And, so you can get a general idea of what my set sounds, I might upload a video of me playing a Billet song (most likely Watching Us Die Tonight or Eye Of The Storm.)

Yeah, according to the Double Bass thread someone posted a while back, we have the same pedals. :woot:

My set is only a beginner though, excluding cymbals and pedals, all the hardware and toms are starter.

Same here, all my heads except 2(top snare, top low tom) are stock, along with the hardware, (except for pedals  )

I feel so inferior with my 2 cymbals

Nice sets. I might get a cheap acoustic one soon, just to practice on.

Don't feel bad. The first drum set I had it only had a ride and a crash (besides the Hi-Hats of course). I played on it for so long that even today sometimes I hit a crash and the hi-hats at the same time just to make more noise (since I only had one crash I got used to play on the hi-hats as well).

If you really like drums you'll see some day you'll have a pretty good set. In the other hand, it doesn't take lots of cymbals and etc to make excellent drumming.

Hasta!

I only have a hi-hat, splash and a crash/ride. Every piece of my set is starter, I've only been drumming for like 2 weeks.

My Roland TD-6V! It's kinda hard to see, because the pic is low quality, but there are three toms, a snare, a "high-hat" (it's just another tom pad that acts as a hat), a a crash, a ride/2nd crash, and a kick. There's also a high-hat pedal in the bottom that you can't see in the pic. The snare is the only mesh one, the rest are solid.

I'm planning on getting another crash, a real high-hat (chain driven), and a double bass pedal when I get some more money.

Nice set Tormann - its got a much better rack than mine does. And an upgrade of my module - though TD-6's can upgrade to TD-6Vs for free, just got to get the right cables. I plan on buying the same exact equipment for mine, once I get enough money.

How does that mesh snare play? I've been thinking about getting a mesh head replacement, but I'm not sure if its worth the money.

The mesh feels REALLY nice. I wish my whole set was mesh, but that would be expensive as hell. I'm not sure how much a mesh head costs, but if it isn't too expensive I'd definitely go for it.

Of course it's much better...

Dudes, haven't you seen my Roland TD9-KX?? I've posted some pictures before (I have a link on this thread 1st page)...

And if you want to hear how it sounds you have two options:

1 - Go to the thread of the FoF Band "Vai Cavalo" (it's on my sig)

or

2 - Go to my song thread and check out the rock cover of Lady Gaga's Poker Face with me playing drums

All that was played and recorded by me with my TD9-KX...all toms, as well as the snare, have mesh heads.

Go listen to it, will ya?

Hasta!

Nothing for now...

I saw your kit, and it does look nice as hell. I've seen what looks like the same one at Guitar Center too. If I had more money I would've loved to have that set. But I got mine used from someone for pretty cheap, and the one I saw at Guitar Center was like $5000.
I've listened to the Vai Cavalo song before and I couldn't even tell that they were electric.

That's why I've bought it. :2thumbsup:

Strange to see the price that high...I bought my Roland V-Drums, new, here in Portugal and it was only 1.650 € and the store offered me a pair of drumsticks, headsets and distribution costs.

Are you sure you weren't looking at the price of the TD20??
