Hm. Are you going to draw inspiration from the Guitar Perspective mod?
https://www.fretsonfire.org/forums/viewtopic.php?f=11&t=23046

Although based on the position of the strings (let alone something approaching the viewpoint of the guitar player), it really should be the headstock at the far end of the neck.

A quick and dirty mockup:

Anyone got a decent guitar and some mad photography skillz?
The guitar perspective idea is a good one. May work better if you get the POV slightly higher (so there's not so much blank space above the end of the fretboard) and get a really good photo of a guitar with a POV that matches (or at least is close, then we can adjust the POV to match the photo)

---- EDIT ----

lol. Found this on deviantart:

OK, it's not even my theme, but you've inspired me to create. If only I was any good...

So, I've recreated my headstock (from an electric guitar this time), though I'm still not happy with it. I need a better source image. Added a sunset background.

I've also created frets from the Guitar Hero guitar. (I'm sure I've reinvented the wheel on that one--if not, I can certainly give them some thickness next). I'm trying to think of something better. I've had thoughts of bottle caps for the notes, but bottle openers for frets seems a little lame.

Also "real world" explosions for hitflames (I'll probably reduce their brightness further, they're still too obtrusive), and "real world" lightning. I have yet to incorporate the "real world" lightbulbs.

Plus, I've begun to experiment with a tabletop jukebox for the songchoosepaper.

Only the lightning is really done.

OK, here's a screenshot of the my latest WIP. I've been playing around with new meters as you can see.

Spoiler:Image

I put in slantyr's bulbs, though you can't really see them very well any more. I've been playing with the sizing of the right-side meter, but FoFiX isn't very flexible.

Death_97 wrote:Nutty, can you give the frets from the picture?

I've been revising the frets a bit. Now they appear to go up and down. I'm going to play with them some more, but what I've got so far is here.

If you want the original ones that "lit up" when pushed (a la Rock Band), get them here.

the rock meters don't get scaled, so whatever pixels are on the canvas are what gets displayed in game (so you can make them any size and even put them on a large canvas to move them around) increasing the canvas will also get rid of the thin white line above your right meter

plus maybe try free transforming the pressure gauge out of round a little for the arch of the lights (hardcoded)

don't feel stuck with that sp light image either. do a quick google image search for "candalabra bulb" ("push button" is a good one to search also)
