B-mod V2.1

Postby blazingamer » Fri Jan 16, 2009 4:58 pm

B-mod V2.1

Hello! I thought I'd release B-mod 2 since it works now. I'm not really feeling like putting a massive post about it. Pretty much all it is is RF-mod for 1.3.110.

What's new to FOF in this version:

V2.15:

Spoiler:Added GHIII mod (Cred. goes to Worldrave for his graphics) with 2d note and key support
Added support for 2d keys
Added Performance Option - Disable Stage Fx
Updated to 1.3 mesh.py
Made the failing detection more effective

V2.1:

Spoiler:All note rendering and key color bugs have been worked out
Definitely no more Memory leak
Basic 2D note support (example pic packaged within the GH Theme)
Failing
Performance options effect all scenes
Performance options are now themeable
Added Performance option - Disable Stage
Added Game option - Neck Speed
Added Audio option - Screw up Sounds (on/off)
Added Video option - Notes (2D/3D)
Key settings work (Regular and Alternate)
Input for PS2 Guitar's strum work (Thanks Jstump)
1.3 Apply Settings crash Fixed

V2.0

Spoiler:Tails do not render on every note
New list/label mode works perfectly and efficently
Built on FOF 1.3.110 which means very minor memory leak! Python2.5!
SVG's are not required
1.2 notes work with it
Multiple color keys work with it
Most 1.2 mods are compatible
Static Hitflames
Windowed mode is always centered
Very fast! Almost no lag, if any, on most machines

What's doesn't it have:

Spoiler:Alternate song library locations
Only standard FOF hopo, no GH2 or RF-mod
Changeable POV's
Multiple part and Drum Support
2 player

Goal for next version:

Spoiler:Multiple part and Drum Support
Alternate song library locations
Lyrics

"I'm getting horrible performance with 3D notes, what can I do?"

Spoiler:Here are 10 quick fixes that usually do the trick:
1) Not use the GH Theme
2) If you use the GH Theme you can exchange the notes for lighter ones or
3) Disable the Stage under the performance options
4) Use 2D notes
5) Update your graphic driver
6) Disable Failing
7) Disable other in-game features within performance settings
8) Deal with it
9) Try and fix it on your own
10) Don't use this mod

Download
Download GH Mod
Download GHIII Mod

Older Versions:

Spoiler:Download V2.1 (37mb)
Download v2 (46mb, mostly the songs fault)

Here are the Pros, Cons and Improvements i made so far:
Pros: This is the first ever mod for FOF 1.3.110. The result glitch where after each song the song results starts to error (in the previous B-Mod) is gone, good job! :smile:
Cons: The game still crashes while I changed the settings or mods and its still hard to do HOPO's. Because of that, I missed too much notes in Bang Bang, Mystery Man. :mad:
Improvements: Implement Friendly GH3 HOPO's & Fix the Crash Problem. I also want the others implemented. I also want crowd sounds implemented. :wink:
Notes: Am I going to far for these Pros, Cons and Improvements??? :laugh: Also in the failing part, why not make a rock meter (THAT DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THE ROCK METER FROM ANY OTHER MUSIC GAME). I suggest a bar of flames at the left side of the screen. It gets bigger if it becomes green showing that you rock and smaller till nothingness if it becomes red or you are about to fail and medium if it becomes yellow showing you are ok
One thing. You are a very true FOF Player, coding FOF by its own originality (unlike FOFIX that just ripped off crap from Guitar Hero and Rock Band). I, too, am a guy who wants to do the same as you do. Reviving the original FOF by fixing its bugs and improving it by making Major Mods of real originality (unlike FOFIX). Once again, you are a true FOF Player. :2thumbsup:

Rockband anyone? Old-school FOF theme?

I'm going to be working on a very simple failing system though, the main goal of this is to make something like a cross between hering's mod and 1.3 but lighter, and then throw in some things from FOFiX.

Sounds good. Something like part-way point between vanilla FoF and FoFiX? All running on a base of FoF 1.3.110.
...This is what the actual FoF devs should be doing (wasn't RF supposed to be doing something like that? Wasn't he asked to join the dev team?)

Could you elaborate on this? I haven't downloaded this myself but my guess is that 3d frets and notes are used (Colleda meshes right?), and can't be changed as easily as the 2d notes present in most fofix themes.

You've been able to set keys in every version of fof IIRC. If the menu isn't there (!?) just edit your fretsonfire.ini

[player0]
akey_1 = K_F1
akey_2 = K_F2
akey_3 = K_F3
akey_4 = K_F4
akey_5 = K_F5
akey_action1 = K_RETURN
akey_action2 = K_RSHIFT
akey_cancel = K_ESCAPE
akey_down = K_DOWN
akey_left = K_LEFT
akey_right = K_RIGHT
akey_up = K_UP
difficulty = 0
key_1 = 282
key_2 = K_F2
key_3 = K_F3
key_4 = K_F4
key_5 = K_F5
key_action1 = 281
key_cancel = K_ESCAPE
key_down = K_DOWN
key_left = K_LEFT
key_right = K_RIGHT
key_up = K_UP
leftymode = False
name = Azzco
part = 0
two_chord_max = False

Just edit it manually, if you have the settings going in another mod just rip the player0 part. :P

In this version of B-mod is it possible to change the board speed? If so, then I'm sold! :2thumbsup:

yayayay. Anyway, I hope you can fix the key settings menu. I'm lazy to open the fretsonfire.ini. :tongue2:
