I wasn't asking if you could teach me, just if you had a good idea of where to look to start learning. It's like me asking the trucker at the gas station where the KMart is at, and he says he doesn't want to drive anyone today ???

That would be nice for me too. Just some guides to get started. What did you learn from?

I have no advice on where to start....

edit: I just opened the library.zip, and started looking at the .py files once I read that those contained the source code.

RF-Mod's original source .py files can be used to replace the compiled objects in the library if you need to modify a new file.

Other than that it's really up to how good you are at deciphering, tracing, and understanding code in general.

edit2: the only other thing I did was lots and LOTS of google searching on various Python articles. I spent lots of time studying and tracing.

Agreed.

Trial and error is the only way to describe Python development. :(

edit:
neat, I think I just found the Rock Band score font, like in this SS:

http://www.linotype.com/195888/itcavantgardegothic-family.html

edit2: ....anyone have that particular font they can upload and share? I think I just need the .TTF file...

Yes, I can add code and an option for starpowerneckovr.png and overdriveneckovr.png.

Lookit what I generated with that font site's sampler application -- I don't need the whole font I can make a special display function to use these digits. And the "0" doesn't look like the one in Rock Band, but the letter "O" does so I will use that instead. :)

MFH is that something that is possible to work into other themes, with the spritesheet numbers?

Yes. I have to code it first but eventually. Right now I just want to get the Rock Band score display to have the same font as in the real game: http://screenshots.teamxbox.com/screen-hires/67954/Rock-Band/. And I'm not gonna pay $23 to buy the whole font :)

wow... nice.

However, I'm going to have to split up the numbers and the comma into individual images because it is not a mono-spaced font. The math would never work out right. So that might be a bit much on the setlist font.

However, if we can make that into a standard .TTF somehow then definitely!

Closest I've found so far to the lyric font, in MS Word 2000, is called "Latha". The lowercase "t"s aren't quite right though. A close second font is "Incised901 BT".
