OK... well.. im new here, and i want to help a little, so.. lets begin... (sorry if you dont understand me.. my english is bad, but i will try to make it clear)

*the first thing we need is an image editor( i use photoshop cs 2.)

*the second thing we need is an image.. like your favorite band or football team.. whatever.

well, after we opened photoshop, we click in the "file" button and create a new file whit this size:

width: 256 pixels

height: 512 pixels

click ok.

after that we click file again and click "place"

now.. we search our picture.. im gonna use this:

Image

now.. we fit the image into our rectangle, making it more larger, etc...

if you want to be creative. .you can add some efects....

later... you must flip your image 180º

save it... in PNG format.

if you have a modded version of frets on fire, put your neck in the necks folder, and name it whit a number, like this

"Neck_36" or "Neck_10"..

i hope this tutorial works for all the people... if you have troubles... post a comment...

and if you want.. you can post your neck.... here´s mine.

Image

and more...

You can also use other textures instead of that canvas-looking one. I prefer wood grain myself. Great tutorial though.

Don't forget that if your picture has text on it, you should flip it horizontally as well or the text will come out backwards. I use a program called Microsoft Picture It! (Only for making the necks proper size). When I load a pic, I have to flip it horizontally, then vertically (if it has text) for it to appear right.

I've tried adding new necks but it never shows up on mine. Is it just me or does me using the RF mod have anything to do with it?

PS: Warhol - what is that smiley thing in your sig about? Why is he lying there? I've watched like three times now and I still don't get it.

Things that would have been useful to see in a neck tutorial:

Make sure the image mode is RGB and that you're using 8bit. (in photoshop: Image > mode > )

Save your file with no interlace (in photoshop you're prompted to choose on filesave)

Good tutorial!

That last one is a homage to the 1980s epic cartoon 'Heavy Metal'

Just copy and paste another neck.svg and rename it.
