Hi! I don't wanna look like I'm spamming the forum or addict to fof but if you want, you could look at this and give comments! I tried to remodel the cassettes so they look like CDs after reading this somewhere.

cd.rar

Include with the file is:
-cassette.dea
-label.dea
-label.png which is a kind of template to create the labels because this is the problem, I have downloaded hundred of labels and they really don't fit on my label.dea
So if you want to try it, you need tp make your own labels. For some reasons my label.dea gives a mirrorring problem so you'll have to "flip" and rotate your images and text...it's very "beta". label-less cds look nice I think.

Screenshots:

Label test:I wrote something to figure out how to rotate and flip so it appears correctly. You can see under and above the problem with the original labels...it's resized, chopped up and unpleasant to look at

you can see that my label.png is not perfectly round so it's not perfect on the cd. I just noticed it by posting it...anyway, as I said it's beta.

Hmmm, I like that you tried to make this work, sometimtes that's all it takes to get an idea off the ground. The picture looks very glitchy though. It looks like 2 of the CDs are in "cases" of some sort, and there's a guitar folder in there too, I'm guessing it's supposed to be there?

Right now it looks very flat. With the cassettes they all were nicely stacked almost on top of each other. With these they're so thin and therefor spaced out that it looks weird. Maybe if they were in CD cases and when you looked at one it would open and show the cd inside?

Well at least theres my two cents, :)

Goodbye everyone. It's been fun. I spent many many hours here on these boards and playing/contributing to FoF. Today I uninstalled my game and deleted all my files. I just don't have the time or interest anymore. I won't be coming back here anymore. I might show up in the IRC from time to time to chat. I regret nothing.

So long, farewell.

the 2 that look like "in cases" are exactly what I meant by "original label problem" those thing around are labels designed for cassettes...and well, I guess that if they are spaced out even if they are thin is because of game programming that I really don't know nothing about.

I've thought about this, too. But I thought it would look cool if it was the CD jewel cases instead of cassettes. But, alas I have no knowledge of 3d modeling.

DarkKnight,b y "CD jewel cases" do you mean like some kind of flat cube, with some details for the lid? I guess it would be easier to do than the CD by itself...a lot less of region extruding...and the labels could be just squares, I'll see what I can do. Only problem is I can't animate anything, would have been cool to see the case opening and all.

By jewel cases I meant exactly that, maybe even jewel cases instead of guitar cases and CDs instead of cassettes. But I hadn't thought about animation. Now that would be awesome! :p

i had a go at altering the 3d meshes. i tried doing a new folder.dea, i got the object into the game no problem , but i couldnt get the label to work, it wouldnt even show up unless i used the original folder label, but that didnt fit properly. so i kinda gave in at that point.

I just thought of somethin after reading this again. This would probably be pain in the @#$ to do, but instead of making cases, just make a CD rack and when u select a cd, thecd would slide out and flip up, and when u deselect it would flip back down and g back into the rack. Like make a base for the rack and when a new cd i added just add another "rack section". Dunno if its a good idea, but i thought of it after geting my GH sountrack off the rack in my room.

You know what would be swank? If the BG image changed with each CD, showing a blown-up version of the disc.

That would require major changes though, since labels are png and the backround is svg. But yeah that would be very awesome.

Yeah, but since .svg can be used to refer at .png that are actually bitmaps and since all labels are called label.png but in a different directory, maybe some kind of script could re-write the .svg each time you select a song...
I use .png refering for my neck because I'm far more used to photoshop than inkscape. This way I obtain good quality image with small size (4k for the neck.svg and 50k for the neck.png)
