Link please. I wasted much time hunting back through pages to find this video you mentioned but could not find it.

Also, the animated killswitch tails are not something I'm familiar with - that was Blazingamer. I still recommend Static killswitch tails for a reason.... there is much more calculation involved with Animated no matter what....


By the way, anyone who's thinking I didn't see a post... I see every single post. I get topic tracker emails. I mark important posts and go back later when I have a chance or feel like it to take care of them. I do not respond to every post, or else I would always be posting and never coding...... I don't answer questions that other players can answer, either. I'm busy, please don't expect direct responses.

I made this video to show off the difference in lag over time depending on where the view is, in relation to the end of the tail...you can notice that there is more lag closer to the start of the note than closer to the end of the note, which is a reason I think unnecessary killswitch animation calculations are taking place.

Also, I guess the video may have been on the previous thread, sorry about that... =/

Also, I seriously could care less about the lag caused by the killswitch animations, I mean, they're only there if you push the killswitch button and they only appear on held notes anyways, so it's not like the game will lag from killswitch animations during a solo. XD Unless you have severe epilepsy or something, I don't think subtle graphics changes like going from slightly transparent to almost fully white and opaque like in the video will do any harm anyways.

EDIT: Grammar fail...it should make sense now. Before, it was "you can notice that there is more lag closer to the end of the note than closer to the end of the note" >_>

I'm working hard these days to release playable multi tracks songs from most of the WIP Videos you see in my signature. Unfortunately, I have what I consider a major problem with audio amplitude in some OGG tracks so I can't release anything until "someone" take a look at the code... or tell me which ".py" file I should loot at.

What I need to know is how the game sets the audio volume for all the tracks in a multi tracks song. Obviously, the active track (the one you're playing) is louder than the others but by how much? Please. This info would save me hours of useless work.

IINM this is a known bug : if you don't press the strum button, the notes are played normally until you first begin to strum (the same behavior happens on two occasions : at the start of a song, and after you change volume options from the pause menu).
I thought MFH had planned to fix this as I seem to recall this bug had been added to the To-do list, but after a quick glance I couldn't find it anymore. So now I'm confused. :p


Another reason would be that the song you played didn't have a separate guitar track.

<li>If you fail to play the first starnotes of a song, then use "Restart", you no more get the starnotes from the start.
<li>Also, the accuracy indicator from the last note hit is still displayed after a restart.

<li>Concerning non-animated killswitch, they always showed white for me, so I supposed this was a normal behavior, but the video Spikehead777 just posted made me wonder : shouldn't they be colored according to the note (like it's the case for the animated killswitch)?

@BlackJack: In the video I posted, the killswitch animation takes on the color of their respective notes of the chord closer to the start of the note, but when the end of the note's tail comes into view, it seems to turn completely white and fully opaque.

I think I can explain this better in pictures than words, so here's a crude diagram; the O--- Represents a note with a tail, and the |--| represents the portion of the tail in view:

I've just noticed another bug that may or may not be known... if you miss notes in a star power phrase, then the notes go back to looking normal and you won't get star power from the phrase, but you can still milk the long notes for star power with killswitch.
I discovered this by accident on RB2 - Alanis Morissette - You Oughtta Know. I missed the first two notes on Medium (wasn't paying attention) but still got star power from the long notes that came next.

Well I'm STILL having problems with all the songs not being read correctly. So I WAS going to downgrade to 2.9 and then....

What are the most RB-ish hopo settings? Using GH2 and hot pants tight now.

And how do you change the overdrive flashes and "neck brightness" in RB2 theme? It's hard to see notes when everything is yellow.
