I know about the mega upload problem guys, I'm very disappointed.
I wish I knew a good site with 400+ file limit, but I can't seem to find one.

Poorquality, yes, you are right in your understanding. However, you don't have to delete your old FOF files. Just put all this wherever you want.

Thanks for the good feedback, I really apreciate it.

Will this software package function on macs? I'm having a bit of trouble with steps 8-11 because that's for a windows computer. Could anyone possibly give me instruction as to what to do here?

Yeah man, sorry, but I did this all on windows. I do have a Mac myself, but I don't use it as much as this, so can someone with superior Mac knowledge help him out here?

Also, 717 DOWNLOADS! WOOOOOOOOOO!!!

i posted files 1, 2 and 5

3 and 4 are the guitar hero 1 & 2 songs and are really large in size

if you have 1, 2 and 5 installed FOF should work, you just wont have any songs, then you should be able to download 3 or 4 from megauploads and play FOF...

you will have to wait the 380 minutes or so before being able to download the other guitar hero zip

but hey, at least you can start jamming while you wait

if theres enough demand i might host the two guitar hero zips, i should have plenty of bandwidth left, ill have to think about it...

anyways, have fun

Really nice compilation... it's just too bad it's buggy as hell. I just discovered this sweet little game today and have had a lot of fun with your compilation, but I really can't use it anymore. It messes with my display and crashes sometimes. It's the first time since using Windows 98 that I've had my monitor get all distorted on me with double images and black lines, and I had to cut the power, not just reset my resolution or exit the game to get rid of the problem.

Second to the video glitching, whenever you try applying changes in Settings the game crashes with an error message. I know it's not my PC because I've used another compilation and also just the un-mod'd latest version of the game with no problems.

Other than that the default control settings are screwed up and I couldn't get my keyboard to function for Player 1 ingame and had to do some copy/pasting in the .ini file.

Edit: here's the contents of the log file after it crashes when I try to apply in Settings:

Traceback (most recent call last):
File "FretsOnFire.py", line 97, in ?
File "os.pyo", line 309, in execl
OSError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory

I'd love to use this, but I really can't do so unless these issues are addressed.

Thats strange, I didn't have any of the problems you reported (other than the messed up controls one, but thats simple enough to fix). Perhaps it is your computer/side of things and not the compilations problem? :D

I'm not sure. I just went through a couple mods... and the screen distortion problem started up again immediately after activating the noob edition mod... it being a part of the starter kit compilation, or w/e it's called.

Thank you very, very, very much Mantralapse. Have a cookie!

Jedinat, the problem is most likely on your end.

However, I know about the "crashes when applying settings" problem.
SOLUTION: Don't apply the settings.

You can either: Go into your fretsonfire.ini and change it (self-explanatory), or just change it in the game, exit out, then start it up again.
Just don't hit "Apply New Settings". I'm quite sure it will work, I've tested it.

About the graphics problems, it has to be your computer. Go into your video settings, change it around, and the exit out of the game (as stated above). Try it then, and if it's still the same graphic settings, then try out the fretsonfire.ini method described above.

As stated above in the first post, the controls for Player 1 are made specifically for a Guitar Hero Controller. Details on how to change that are... also in the first post. Go and read that section again (or for the first time), please.

ALSO: (IMPORTANT) Jedinat, It's EXTREMELY recommended to NOT USE ANY OTHER MODS WITH THIS. This has some features from the Noob Edition mod, so guess what happens when you put in the Noob Edition? CRASHO, PROBLAMEO, HAZARDO. Don't use any other mods with this compilation, I've taken much, much care into making sure that all the mods that I've included do not conflict with one another. By putting in another mod, it's messing the entire thing up.
