this time the window popa up, turns pink and closes itself

It's crashing in the main program loop somewhere. It may be related to the memory bug which makes EOF eat up lots of RAM in Windows for some people. Linux usually doesn't tolerate such things. I am looking into it but since I can't reproduce the bug myself it is going to be mostly guesswork.

I threw in another GB of memory in my computer and it runs quite a bit better for me now. Well enough that I'll finish my current song and start using EOF, because it's SO much better than Freetar Editor. Kudos, and I look forward to the next version!

1.2 will feature better memory utilization. I plan to cut usage to 1/4 what it is now. I already have some optimizations planned that will put me well on my way towards that goal. I may even be able to exceed that goal but I won't know until I start working on it next week.

NewCreature, are you planning on adding a option to be able to select your own keys? And possibly a joystick?

Yes, I am going to add a control configuration option, including joystick. I plan on having two sets of keys in addition to the editor keys. I am also thinking of having a record mode that does basically what the Guitar Tap/Strum control method does. You hit record and start playing on your guitar or drum set and the notes will be placed on the board.

Ok good. 'Cause you'd be insane not to include that! :p

I hate to ask for more, but would you be able to add more playback speed controls? I know it can be played back at half speed if you hit control+space, but is there a way to "sticky" the playback speed at 1/4 or 1/2 (like in Freetar Editor) so no modifier key is necessary with the space bar? With as much as I start and stop in slow-mo, I usually forget to hit control. Thanks again for such a wonderful program, it's easily the best program I've used for fretting songs.

Yeah, I am going to make 3/4, 1/2, and 1/4 playback speed options.

98% of the Internet population has a Myspace. If you're part of the 2% that doesn't have one, copy and paste this into your sig.......NOW!

Tux Guitar is a free tab editor I would recommend to any fretter for read ing or exporting guitar pro OR power tab tabs you use

You might have some luck using EOF in Wine. I have tried it and it does work for me on Ubuntu 8.04. Other people have had trouble with it, though.

I have a little more input, for what it's worth:

Would you be able to add a browse window call for the destination to save a new song? Currently I just move it out of the EOF folder into the folder where I keep my songs, then re-open it.

Also, sometimes if I paste a set of notes, or if I import a MIDI, it won't snap to grid in the correct positions. This has even happened to me (rarely) when I am placing new notes manually. This just requires me deleting and replacing the notes. Besides those minor annoyances, this is still the most perfect program for charting songs!

On the mac version whenever I open a song, it just plays static. Anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I get 'Paging File Too Small" error in XP :(

I think I'll try a older version to see if that works.

Nope, 1.0 don't work.
