Nice, I'll be sure to add these to the list of tutorial songs to review and possibly add to FoFiX, thanks.

Shun and p_025 - sweet, I'm open to try any other video cards I can in this old desktop - as long as you're not using them and you don't mind sending them my way for experimentation I'll benchmark them all and see how they run / compare with FoFiX. I'll also use these results to come up with some minimum system requirements for certain feature levels. Just PM me if you need my address.

I don't have the line-by-line lyrics working yet, but if I can't get them working in the morning I'll just release the beta without them for now, so everyone can be testing 3.035 beta 2 while I'm working this next week.

On FoFix 3.035 alpha rev616:
I tried the sorting option. It does not work for songs set in career mode. As soon as there is no "unlock = .." line in the song.ini the sorting works perfectly.

EDIT:
Okay, dam**it, i'll take it back, should've read more clearly.. ts,ts. Sorry for spamming with my above nonsense, please disregard it.

I can help you: my brother and I are lefty, but he play guitar like a right-handed and prefer different settings than mine. Since RF-Mod, I found a tweak to have as much as you want differents profiles

Spoiler:It's very easy. First, go into your FoF folder, and copy "fretsonfire.ini", then paste it one time for each profile needed. Rename these "fretsonfire.ini" to something easy to recognize, like "your-name.ini". So if your three to play, you should have something like:

    - The unmodified "fretsonfire.ini"
    - jack.ini
    - cathy.ini
    - alex.ini

Now, right click on "fretonsfire.exe", and create 3 shorcuts (if you have 3 news .ini), then place them on your desktop (if you have Windows XP Familial, place 1 shorcut in each session needed).

Right click on the first, you should have something like this as "target" (dunno if it's the right term used in english):

"your-harddisk:\your-fretsonfire-location\Frets on Fire\FretsOnFire.exe"

Now, add this line at the end (if your name is Jack and named the .ini like this, obviously :P ):

Code: Select all

-c jack.ini
or, if you named differently
-c your-name.ini

IMPORTANT: DON'T FORGET ADD A SPACE BETWEEN "....FretsOnFire.exe" and -c jack.ini, thus making something like this:

"your-harddisk:\your-fretsonfire-location\Frets on Fire\FretsOnFire.exe" -c jack.ini

THE SPACE BETWEEN THE GREEN AND BLUE IS VERY IMPORTANT, DO NOT FORGET IT!!

Repeat the processus for each shorcut, changing jack.ini to cathy.ini, etc...

Et voila!

You created 3 profiles :woot:
Now, by using the appropriate shorcut (if you're on the same desktop, don't forget to rename them to remember which one is yours  ), the .ini that will be modified ingame will be the one added after "-c", so you'll just have to change the options/your name after playing a song, only one time, and it'll be done

Hope I helped

That's brilliant!
Someone was asking recently about a "reset controls to defaults" option for changing between controllers and keyboard? you could do a similar thing with this tutorial to switch between controller profiles. The only annoying thing would be if you change settings in one "profile" they would also need updating in the other "profiles".

@holystone: it does if you changed the option in the option menu as hman333 wrote.

hman333 wrote:alpha testers - r609

Improvements to RB2 setlist, Sorting tiers added, list all songs in library.
-new option added in quickplay tiers- off, normal, sorting
-new option added listing mode-normal, listall
sort by band difficulty, support for random.png and emptylabel.png

EDIT:
on that note: very good job on the sorting option hman333. looks great and works great.

I thought most allready know of this.

Thing is you don't even have to name the file name.ini it can be just a name. For example I have a config file for recording:
glc-capture -k p -o video fofix -c record
one thing that would be awesome would be if these alternate config files could be transparent, so if for exmaple if selected song is not defined in the selected config file it will use the value from the normal fretsonfire.ini.

Then for a simple change like keys. or resoltuion you'd only have to define thse and still be able to use normal settings.

wow, you guys are on fire lol

the starpower.ogg doesn't play when activating starpower

@hman333 the new sorting rocks! any chance on being able to map it to another button my 360 guitars will flip through the different modes just sitting on the floor

i think it has something to do with the inverted settings they need

again great work all.

Death Legion,

Great idea! This is EXACTLY what I was talking about for different instrument profiles. Right now I have an .ini file for Player 1 Drums and Player 2 Guitar, another one for P1 guitar and P2 Guitar, and another for P1 Guitar.

I simply copy, paste and overwrite the main .ini file each time with whichever ini version I want to play.

You have the same idea, however, you created a MASTER shortcut that uses each mini....

Thanks,

Matt!

Yea, it works great for me. I use Megalight with everything disabled - so I am not too worried about changing a video setting in one profile, for example, and wishing it would copy to the other profiles. That would be cool though!

Thanks again,

Matt!
I'm happy with my Ion Rocker kit and Roland KD-8 double bass kick trigger!
