Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.030)
add a rating system to the game to rate the fretter skill overall.
almost like the stars rate songs have a rating menu.
it would be like if i played 6 songs and failed one, got three stars on two of them, and perfect on the rest, my rateing would be 4 and a half or 4 stars. see what i mean
this would a great way to track our progress against other players

This is sort of implemented on the online scorecharts, though not in the same way. The thing is in this system someone could just FC I Think I'm Paranoid 500 times and be called number one.
I'm going to have RB sounds done soon, I just need to separate the rest of the drum misses, and maybe I'll get improved menu selection sounds and "back" sound, I noticed the one we have now has like, a crowd in the background. I'll just see what I come up with.

Ok I am running the source now and have a quick question.
How do I get a .png to be displayed when selecting "random song"?

Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.030)
Hi. I followed all the steps to set up the sources from the wiki. I am using Ubuntu Linux 8.10 64-bit. I had to manually install cx_Freeze. I extracted the RPM to the correct folder. However, I get a new error message:
GameResultsScene src/FretsOnFire.py
zipimport.ZipImportError: can't decompress data; zlib not available
Fatal Python error: unable to locate initialization module
make: *** [dist] Aborted
I have tried installing multiple zlibs from the ubuntu repositories, they install OK, but make no difference.
thanks for any help you can give me............................Joseph

You don't have to create binaries...
Are you able to run from sources? i.e. "cd /path/to/fofix/src && python2.4 FretsOnFire.py".
If you've gotten the sources from trunk, you've to use python-opengl 2.x, version 3.x will be veerrrryyyyy sloooowww....
FoFiX GNU/Linux Releases and Patches (32bit and 64bit)
Re: MFH Mod (FoFiX) 3.0xx (v3.030)
I was hoping to create a binary so that it would run faster. How much faster is the binary compared to source if python-opengl-2.x is used?
edit: it also seem that python-opengl-2.x is not available for ubuntu 8.10.

I can run fretsonfire.exe and play it fine for howerver long I want, but if I close it, and run it again, it will hang when I'm loading a song. I have to reboot to fix this, and it works fine after I reboot.
That's strange. I haven't really tested the version I compiled. I'll see if the same thing happens on my xp machine.

There are some DLCs with song+crowd.ogg, "07-15-2008 DLC - The Who - Greatest Hits (1983)" have many of them.

ha well if they are live songs they really don't need crowd sounds do they, because they are already part of the song seeing as they are live and what not

I suppose it depends on the ripper. There are even DLCs without drums.ogg, though they are not unworthy of their work. Every teacher follows his book, the pity is that the book is not the same for all
