Nice job hman/qstick. Random song works great, it's good to finally have that feature.

Few issues, not sure if some of these are just me.

Overdrive mode is sometimes fading out the green neck (sometimes it comes back in, othertimes it doesnt reappear until the end of overdrive when it blinks and disappears), while the lines on the side are yellow.

And then solo+overdrive is turning bright yellow instead of whatever it was before. The bright yellow is really obnoxious and I'm pretty sure it's not supposed to be that color.

Also, I'm not sure if those images you mentioned in the RB2 theme folder were supposed to be in the SVN update, but I don't think they were part of it. Therefore I'm not really sure if that part works (I checked out the RB2 list theme but not anything else about it and I don't have MrFaust's inis yet). It might be a good idea, for another theme, to just default to those images if they are not in the theme dir (i.e. Megalight can use RB2 mode just fine, but may not have those images in the directory).

It's not just you. The overdrive neck disappearing trick is quite odd. And the bright yellow could possibly be to do with the overlays. For some reason it's overlaying the soloneckovr onto the overdrive neck onto your current neck. I don't think it used to do this. And also it has some issues with stacking things and making them less transparent, hence the over-the-top yellow.
Example: RB1 theme, GH:WT neck, overdrive and solo:

Only the megalight themes get updated from the svn due to a google code policy issue regarding original content. Hopefully someone posts the graphics soon *hint-hint*

Okay, this has been really annoying me for some time now. Real Rock Band uses yellow fret(or maybe it was orange)/kick pedal to change sorting order. I'm going to get truely pissed off about all the unnecessary **** on the songlist soon. Actually, I only really have a problem with the high scores display (and its associated keybindings), everything else looks really tight, very nice job hman333, this is nothing against your work.

And the guy who posted before me is right. I've noticed the overdrive neck disappears when your multiplier reaches 8x on guitar. That one made me smile for a second.

I hadn't figured out what triggered it disappearing, thanks for the info.
Given time, I'm sure that the menu / song list key bindings will become changeable at some point...

Random songs thoughts... when "random song" is selected and you finish the song, when the game return to the library it should point to the "random song" entry again, not the played song entry. And I think it should have an own label/album.png.

v3.035 is getting big and awesome!

trinidude4 wrote:If anyone is interested in testing this, I think I have a working windows version of FoFiX running on python 2.5. I'm not really sure how well it works or how stable it is. Also, there are probably a lot of extra files in the download because I'm not sure which files I can remove. I got it working on my older winxp desktop.

Download FoFiX-python2.5 for windows here: http://www.mediafire.com/?c941tjm15aj

This was based on r593 so it is an alpha.

This runs great on my machine. I played 6-8 songs and restarted the song a bunch of times and I didn't get the laggyness I usually got after playing about 3 songs on the python 2.4 versions. Everything was running really smooth. No crashes or hangs. But I didn't got digging through the menus for testing, I just went straight to playing. Great work! I think I'm going to use this version now instead of the alpha.

I was using the rock band 2 theme and my fretsonfire.ini from the previous version.

myfingershurt wrote:On that note, setting highpriority = False in your fretsonfire.ini file does indeed help with lag on certain setups. I used to run with it set to True, and got some nice results on my laptop. Since moving to this older desktop, my original FoFiX settings resulted in some bad and uneven lag.

highpriority = False is really interesting.

Just to explain, I've always felt that the gameplay and fretboard scrolling towards me (hence the game and how well I play) can get sluggish or skip, and this even with decent framerates. With drums I feel like I miss notes I shouldnt be missing (but I don't know if thats me or the drums or the games).

I just tried highprioriy = False and despite the game not being at a solid framerate, it feels a lot smoother. It gets low, but it still felt smooth and easy to play.

Also, it just occurred to me, does this value change what settings does to the Frame Rate # in options? I think I had mine set to 55 right now, which would explain why it seemed to cap at 55 (Although rarely was it right at it). But with true, it would always basically ignore that setting.

I couldn't get the python 2.5 version to work at all... It gets to loading a song then locks up and crashes. No useful info in the log, either. The log ends halfway through loading songs in the set list, nothing at all to do with loading the guitar scene...
If it makes a difference, I'm running Vista.

EDIT: Don´t ask me for the log file because there´s nothing in it...
Im doomed

What do you mean there's nothing in your log file? If the game is getting to the menu, I believe it is impossible for the log to be empty... Are you sure you're looking at the right log file? Also, what theme are you using? and does using another theme (like the megalight theme, for example) help? (this is a quote as well :2thumbsup: )

The file that im searching is the one that is right in the main folder where Frets on Fire.exe is and there´s nothing in it it doesn´t work with any theme but there is something weird the game with THE MAIN musics only WORKS but when I put my own music IT DIES when LOADING them....any thoughts?

I ran into this problem on my xp machine. To get it to work, I had to set the song library first, then exit the game. After I restarted the game, it worked. I didn't try it on Vista yet.

I could compile the next svn release, but after I get home from work. I think you can replace the py files for the compiled ones in the library.zip though.

@trinidude4: Nice work on creating binaries of the experimental-python2.5 branch for Windows! Note that changes made to trunk or not automatically applied to the experimental branch and that's _WANTED_ behavior. I (or someone else who knows what he's doing, please be very careful when merging) need to merge them to the experimental branch.

@Shun: Basically yes, when "highpriority = True" the fps setting is ignored. It just renders as many frames as it can.

that experimental trunk should have some kind of priority now. it runs better than any version ive ever run. the vista problem may be easy to fix? people could be moving over to it as the main one in no time.
in my opinion anyways. and i know nothing.
