Just played this on my main gaming machine and the performance is really great, but then thats to be expected with the megalite theme plus my twin 7800GTs in SLI :)

I would try it on my media pc but I left my guitar round a friends house so I couldnt! Overall it seems to work brilliantly, there was one issue with the solo career menu, I clicked it and the game hung for ages even though I only have 6 songs in my song folder, though I havent done anything with the career settings for each song so I guess its that? Even so it would be good if the game didnt hang if there are no defined career songs? The only other issue that I could find (and I cant really say if it was an issue or just my ears) but it seemed that if I held the killswitch button down on a long note and release after it finished, the next note would be muted briefly. I hope that makes sence?

It isnt that easy to reproduce as you need a long note streak then enough time to release the killswitch button before hitting the next note, and some songs its hard to tell if its just quiet due to the song or if the note really is muted. I got the 'feeling' that was the case anyway

I agree. More oomph, more colour/shade. Not quite sure how to add it though... Any ideas are welcome.

By the way, the "Ascii art" one was actually the same as the others, just that all the letters used the "Mutter" font (based of Rammstien's logos). It was just a cool font I had on my machine

Here's what my current (popular) ones look like scaled down.

It looks like the "ascii" one will need more work (i.e. make the lines thicker) when it's scaled down. Especially to 32x32 and 16x16

EDIT: Hey, I just noticed something... You know if star scoring is completely disabled, it calculates the star value right before it shows the game results screen? Yeah, well it plays the dings then, too. I was using blazingamer's megalight GHIII and noticed that it would do a couple of dings right at the end of every song. I thought it was quite amusing, actually.

Got an idea...
Why not use an eagle as base, and make the name like this (I hope you won't kill me for using your art, death_au  ):

Image

This is only scratch, but the idea is here. The best would be to find an eagle logo with the wings going like the F, to the up... Unfortunately, the only ones I know like this are nazi eagles -_-'

This one is the Raven Guard logo, from Warhammer 40K.

Any help in figuring out those issues is most welcome!

Your issues:
- Mix sound: Mute tracks? If so does increasing the buffer helps? Or does changing sample rate to 22050 Hz helps?
- Slower menus: What is the value of highpriority under the game section of your fretsonfire.ini?

With 3.030b1
- Mix sound: 44KHz works again.
- Slower menus: No now with same .ini, exellent job

I didn't like that myself. the eagle is way to detailed if you were to ask me.
Death_au's lgoso will need some more colour if you ask mehow about a little redish 'F's for the wings, some cooler orange for the 'i' and 'o' and keep the 'X' black? I'm half colourblind mind you so if I were to try that I'd pprobably have a mess in my hands. o.O

Going to download latest release and see if I can run it well on linux.

Edit:
Oh that was a windows link...I hope it contains a src folder. :)

Hi everyone again!

Reciently I updated my Alarian mod from 2.900 to 3.000 and I have a trouble:

I don't like the new perfomance of the fretboard, in 2.900 I used to have a variable BMP fretboard (cause I sucks playing, that option makes me a chance to complete puppetz's songs xDD) but in the 3.000 I´m over, so I have to back to the 2.900 and in that version I can't use the 3.000 themes, and I have the rock band 2 theme and is a problem cause my computer is old and the new version (even if I use the megalight theme) the game crashes... I will explain it in spanish if someone can help me.

My PC:

- Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) Sempron 2400+ 1.66@ GHz
- ATI Radeon 9250 256MB DDR (I know, my graphic card sucks xD)
- Kingstom 768MB RAM DDR
- Seagate 80Gb 7200rpm (C: 55GB D: 25GB)
- Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 OEM Software
- DirectX 9.0c November 2007 (This date is useless cause the engine of FOF is OpenGL right?)
- .net Framework 1, 2, 3 with service pack
- XNA Framework 1 and 2
- Windows classic theme for more perfomance

What can I do?

What can I do?

Youuu computer seems to meet the normal requirements, we don't really have any direct requirements but most will do fine with a cpu running at a frequency of 1.5 GHz and your graphics card seems just fine. Also can't see anything wrong with the amount of ram...

WWWhat do you mean by variable fretboard? most songs are harder to play if you have variable bpm (beats per minute, tempo of the song).
If I were you I would try to go with the 3 series iinstead of staying with the old 2.9 versions. Bug fixes are done often and we just removed the amanith dependencies and are using Frets On Fire 1.3.110 which on my computer runs smoother than previous versions.

If you encounter any problems like crashes try to submit a log file, and explain what you did and what happened.
Good luck. :)

I just tried the beta for 3.030.
I didn't find any bugs as of now.
The only thing I noticed was the fretboard is consistently jumpy.
It is very slight, but it is enough to be annoying.
I guess it being consistent is a good thing, because that means it could just be a rendering problem? Maybe? Instead of the memory problem.
I didn't experience any memory leak issues like previous versions.
Good job guys!

I mean that with variable BMP I can see the frets come in the solos xD (to much playing made me a little blind xD)

All right, I think there's 2 possible solutions
1. Do you mean BMP as in the fretboard picture? You could set it to the RB/transparent black fretboard - or use the megalight theme. Perhaps you can see the frets then.
2. Or is it Beats Minute Per? Try going under fretboard options and set fretboard speed options to difficulty - not BPM, not BPM/difficulty, just difficulty. And tweak the fretboard speed percentage to your liking.

Hope this helps.

OMG It looks like that works xDDDD

Yeah! I'm better with Fretboard speed dificult at 100%, I know that is insane but is my gameplay style since I have Alarian mod :tongue2: so...

Thanks to all for your help!!! xD :2thumbsup:

sorry if this is a noob question but i can't find a setting (3.030beta) to allow solo's or rb/midi lyrics in gh themes

also is there a new scaling option in the theme.ini for the difficulty select screen? at 1280x1024 it looks small

performance is great, all other things seem to be working well

To allow or rb/midi lyrics go to Settings > FoFIX 3.030 Settings > MIDI/RB Lyrics (for me it worked!) and turn lyrics to on. If it doesn't work maybe is a bug...

For the resolution go to Settings > Visual Settings > Video Resolution
