Yes you can have multiple versions on 1 PC.
Just install them into different folders.
Suggestion: For the version you are using now, go into your DOCUMENTS AND SETTINGS and grab your fretsonfire.ini
and then paste it in the folder with your current fof.exe file.
I'm not exactly sure which folder the .ini is hiding in.. you'll have to look, or use the SEARCH button on this website.
The location of this file has been talked about before.
Then install the other version of FOF into another folder on your computer.
You will have to duplicate all of your Songs and song folders though. (Which is a bummer because of the disk space that is used up by the .ogg files)
As far as 'which' version is better... there are more mods for the 1.1.324 version, and I prefer that one.
1.2.451 is catching up and when the RF Mod comes out, I'm sure everyone will be jumping ahead to the newer version. Some people around here are mostly converted to the 1.2.451 version already and are sticking with it.

Well; as my post count suggests, I am a nOOb. After doing a search for 451 mods ONLY; the version got me once LOL, I found this.
I already had the Lyrics mod installed, so I thought that might give it a fuss... So I backed up, installed mod, and the game would lock before the 'song/fret/stage' loaded..
I noticed I had 'Chilly' on, turned it off.. Flight as smooth as a babies.. Well..
I am just saying, this was ez enough for a FoF 451 nOOb to install, so it can't be THAT hard.
My only question is.. What if I want to choose a back ground and not have a random one?
-ducking tossed monitors-
I know, read and search. However, from a dead learning curve to a Lyrics and random mod with over 200 songs in a few hours, is not bad. I earned a 'token'.
And a neat and sloppy way to turn OFF the song preview. It REALLY bogs down searching.
Thanks,
Ed

I didnt make the random background mod, and it's not included with this GH mod so I suggest you look in the random BG thread to get answers about it (maybe there is some toggle, I dont know) https://www.fretsonfire.org/cgi-bin/ikonboard.cgi?act=ST;f=11;t=9288
And so far, I believe only rf-mod has the 'toggle off song preview' feature, so it's not working (yet) with 1.2.451

I compiled a Linux binary of this. Let me know if it works. Works here, but it's the first one I've done of FoF, so I hope it works for everyone else.

edit: Sorry about the size. 18mb, all that needs to be added are songs.

I am aware that this build did not work for most of you. I'm told it has something to do with python2.5, but i'll keep trying. I may build a .deb package.
edit: I'm working on compiling with python 2.4. I think as of now, the binary will only work if you have python2.5 installed. I need more people to test and get back to me. I'm not exactly sure how to force my my binary to build in python2.4. will keep you updated.
