Hey guys, Im working on a theme and I need a little help. I started working on a theme and I almost got it the way I want it. It has the rockband style rock meter and star power.
Then I found another theme that I like even more to use as a base. I just like the layout of it more, so I was going to start modding it to look like the one im working on. But one thing, this new theme has guitar hero style rockmeter and star power.
I want to stick with the rockband style, can I change it to the rockband style? What files would I have to change. I wouldnt just change the pngs. there must be other files that tell them where to o right?
Any help would be awsome.

not so easy in the stable version. Idk how you could do that. I would say copy all of the rockmeter files to the GH style theme. and there is one file that determines whether it is a GH or RB theme. i can't think of what it is right now. And I don't have the source files on this comp.

Re: Theme questions
Depending on which graphics have the "better layout" you're talking about, you might just be able to copy them over. There's only a handful of differences between RB and GH themes.
Make sure you have an RB-style rock meter, overdrive meter, multiplier, notes and score meter, and don't use graphics for any of those from the "better" GH theme.
When in doubt, check the ThemeUsableImages page on the FoFiX wiki. It will tell you how different files behave on the different kinds of themes. Just don't include files listed on that page that are "Related to Theme Type" GH, and pay attention to the "notes" column if theme type is "All"

Re: Theme questions
Hey guys, havent been on here at all over the hoildays.
Finally back and checked out the replys.
I was hoping it would be as simple as copying the rock meter and associated files over. But the song wouldnt start up. It froze at the loading graphics screen.
I thought there must be a file in the theme somewhere that tells those rockmeter files where to appear on the screen when the song starts. I thought i have to change stuff like that no?
Maybe i'll just have to keep searching for themes that are rockband style an still get a layout I like. I just like the layout of the main screen better, and the song select screen better on this one theme is all.

Re: Theme questions
It probably locked up because it was looking for a .png that you didn't have. Make sure you have all the Rocband needed .png's in the Guitar Hero theme that you want to convert. I would look in the RB folder and copy any .png that you don't have into the GH folder. That way you wont miss any.
Hope this helps! Good Luck

Re: Theme questions
^^^ Thats what I did and it locked up.
Its no big deal. I'll just search some of the themes and ill find another I'll like to start with.
I just liked the main menu on this one. The options were on the upper right corner instead of in the middle on the left side. And I liked how the song select was laid out also.
And on the main menu it had career and quickplay. Instead of selecting solo on the main menu the another page coming up saying career and quickplay.
Know what I mean.
---- EDIT ----
Really the positioning and the song select screen I can do without. It was the Career and quickplay right on the main menu screen I really liked. It was
Career
Quickplay
Multiplayer
Training
Settings
Quit
I didnt really like the font on it but I could have made my own png with the font of my choice.

Re: Theme questions
put "use_solo_submenu = False" in your theme.ini and you should get the ability to use Career and Quickplay off the main menu. Then just copy the maintext.png from the theme you liked to the new one (or make your own).
For the positioning you can copy the menuX and menuY settings from the "nice" theme to the new theme.
I directed you to the ThemeUsableImages wiki page before, but you might also want to have a look at the ThemeFileSettings page as well
